Revitalizing Legends

An open thread for the discussion of options and solutions to revitalizing our shard.

My opinions;
I have to agree with Bud that a well supplied Luna vendor mall is a big actractant, if people can't find things they want or need then why stick around at all? As such if you own a luna home or operate a vendor there please try you hardest to keep them stocked and active.

We could use a few dedicated crafting mats vendors, a few carpentry item vendors (it was very difficult finding chests for house decorating a few days ago), just more of everything really and properly stocked and restocked would go a long way.

Next off, player run events. Both pve and pvp events, if the community is active then there will be a draw for people looking for such.

I'm in the process of gathering the resources (reward items) to run two pvp events in the near future.

And lastly we need more stratics main page coverage, other shards have new news items up almost daily, and we can go weeks or months without anything new. Nothing says dead like no news.

Let me take this cue to clarify something I said in another thread that got me ragged on something fierce. Commerce and merchants are indeed necessary to survival, and indeed growth. This is recognized in any world, be it virtual or real.

What I take exception to is people being told "you own a Luna house, therefore, you must have vendors and spend what little playtime you have stocking them". No. Living in Luna doesn't make you a merchant, anymore than living in Fel will make you a pvp'er. We have plenty of vendors, and plenty of vendor houses. What we need is to have plenty of merchants keeping them stocked with their specialties.

And true enough, crafting mats are hard to come by sometimes...I just found that out the hard way *grins*

the counter argument to what Uriah says about using luna homes for non commercial purposes is a simple analogy. Is it good for a mall to be filled with run down shacks or quality stores? If you're using a house in luna for non commercial purposes, you're squandering real estate. You may be allowed to, but it doesn't make it right.

I would hardly say that a rune house in luna is a waste of real estate,
or WRR's house that they use for Deal or no deal , its awesome for our shard to have events that bring people from other shards here to check it out.

Ghetto just opened a new vendor shop in luna, and spots are available for anyone who puts a little time it into asking around in general chat. I have never since we first flocked to luna had any issues getting a spot myself.
More vendors doesn't equal better, or a more productive shard.
It would help a little bit if more of the items harvested on this shard weren't xfered to shards where there value is higher.

As I have stated in the past, if ever I feel that the shard is in need of more vendor spots I will be more then happy to switch my luna house into a vendor shop.

That is awesome, I hope someone steps up to give devilsown a hand, and get this shard popping, If there is anything I can do to help out some anyone feel free to let me know,

Well if you are going to be looking for more reporters maybe a new thread saying so, my hours do not permit me to be as active as id like our shard reporter to be, but if there are no volunteers id do what i could =)

As far as events go, before I left for a long long break... I used to be part of an auction house's auction team, do we even have auctions any more? Also champ spawn/mini champ/peerless days would be nice to organize. Umm how about "crafter" days where we get a bunch of bored crafters together who craft stuff for people that have been spamming for ages LOL. Then there is always pvp events, tournaments, capture the flag, hide n seek etc etc.

Another thing I think we need though not quite sure how to accomplish is more people using our shard forums, i see the same twentyish names a lot, and not to much from other people... any ideas?

Im glad to see im not the only one concerned with our shards future.

I think everyone on Legends already has everything they could possibly need. We put items up for sale on our vendors, and after sitting there a month or so, we transfer to another shard to sell them, usually at a greater price than we tried to on Legends.

This is so true. I remember the cow tipping event, there was some idiot spamming beforehand if there would be a reward. The EM said no, so the person just left. Of course, the EM kind of brought this on himself, always having events that give out rewards. We've been spending a lot of time on other shards, where the EM has devoted a lot of time with the community and come up with a storyline. There aren't any rewards for coming, and there are always lots of people present. The problem here is that it does involve the EM spending some time coming up with different ideas, using some creativity, and a community willing to help out. I'm pretty sure all we'll ever have on Legends is kill the chicken, kill the dragon, go fish and here's your reward events...

The Real Community is always made by the players themselves. It is this way on crowded shards and shards with less population. I don't pretend to be an expert on Legends by any means but if I could find more reporters to cover areas that you wish to revitalize, would that help? Would community minded people step up to help?

The last Storytelling night I went to on Atlantic was attended by three people. The last one I attended on Baja was very well attended. So shard size does not always dictate community enthusiasm.

Today a new Return to Britannia has been launched and an High Seas Booster Pak has been set to open and soon enough many of us will be stuck inside looking for something to do. By all reports the new content is extremely fun. I listen to it all day long in our staff chat. Our staff is enjoying themselves immensely. So you do have things to look forward too.

Our EM's are only a welcome compliment to what we must do ourselves to make our communities strong and healthy. Relying on others to create your own way is never a good idea in any world.

If your RP Communities are not growing, contact the newly appointed News Reporters for the White Stag Inn and have them featured so that people will learn about it and want to join.

We are lucky to someone like DevilsOwn to create interest and keep the shard involved but we could use more help creating interest on Legends. Are any of you up for it? Let's move forward and be positive!

I guess I had myself to blame for that, I didn't allow enough time for it to be known. The one I held before was well attended so maybe I will hold another, and with the new booster coming out a sea themed night might go over a little better than the last one

dog fights
Public harrower
Public champ spawns
Free for all pvp fight(no tamers no stealthers)
Capture the flag
Escort mission(2 factions on 1 side, 2 on the other). If the carriage is stopped and the defenders slaughtered, the bad guys win. If the good guys get it from 1 place to another, they win.

I have ruffly 70 sets of harry skulls sitting around I will gladly sell off to anyone wanting to do a public harry 4 warning tho your gonna get raided......

But if you want to pick Legends back up off the floor even the damn teams in Fel. How fun is it to run out with 5 to 1 odds just drives people off the shard other then the people that sit in tram and don't know how to play at all honestly is it that hard to kill a peerless? Get yourself to Fel with your guilds and go do some freaking harrys already I seen the same blue skull sitting in the star room since I came back.

Vendors wont fix Legends.!

There was no action. Fel on Legends is a HUGE hit or miss anymore. Almost any shard is tbh. That's why we play Legends/chessy/Ls/GL/Atl/Pac. We just shard jump non stop until we can actually find someone to kill.

well tell you the truth people who played uo on legends wont know luna or to even look at luna they will run right for brit so stop bank sitting in luna make people feel welcome back by sitting in haven or brit thats how i see it luna is a ugly bank and as far as The Penny Pincher vendors in luna. i try to stay cheap and stocked every few hours sence i play 18 hours a day
