Resisting Spells fairly useless for PvM?

I have Resisting Spells at various skill levels on most of my PvM characters. I have a bad feeling that they are wasted skill points for most of my guys. It seems more than half the spells I can get hit with can be removed with an enchanted apple. Is there value in having some Resist, instead of none? Is 75% or 80% worth keeping or should I drop it to pump up main skills from the 100% to the 120% range?

Hmm, depends on template to be honest.

Some people swear by 90resist on a sampire. I myself dont. As you say, all curses can be removed via apple or remove curse spell.

resist isn't in my opinion, very pvm orientated. Its going to stop para[at 120] and reduce poison, but, i just dont think its needed in pvm.

It certainly depends of your profession and the enemy you encounter. Liches paralyze, as do Reapers and such. The time you spend paralyzed is dependent upon your resistance.

Resistance also determines the total effect of Mana Drain spells. Using a Protection spell lowers the magic resistance of the protected person. The Protection spell prevents the protected persons spells from being interrupted by an attack, so a higher rating to start is good.

Essentially though, you use it to reduce the length of time you are paralyzed.
If you are a spell caster, you defend your saved mana with it, as well.
Magic Resistance is a pain to waste a skill on for being so rarely used, but when you are paralyzed and the monsters are ganging up on you for a 15 second free for all, you might really wish it was only 5 seconds. 80 resistance is pretty good.

your right, im really not sure how magic resist helps a sampire..

they cant get poisoned and if paralyzed or debuffed just use an apple or trapped box.

i would put those points somewhere else.. sampires are really cramped for skills as it is.

I have resist on my PvM'rs. I hate it when my armour falls into my backpack.

Wow. Haven't had this happen since the olden days, when folks still wore plate armor. Most are wearing imbued/runic leather these days, it seems. What armor and level of strength are you sporting?

I don't use resist on my PvMers often. Instead, I have apples and a trap box in my pack.

I have a couple of chars with 80 strength, so it can happen with metal armor or heavier weapons.
