I've read your guides and a few on how to 4xGM bard with a new char.

However!

Poo i kow you like to startup on new shards, and i was thinking of having a dabble in europa starting a new char - having read all the info on bards and not being able to make enough on my home shard (Im trying an ABC + Disco as you recomended ) I'm going to try a disco tamer bard elsewhere...

How would you recomend i go about starting? i was thinking +50 tame and +50 mage as tame is a bugger, and I'll need the magery to move/survive?

I'd then train up tame first to 100 keeping other skills locked where possible to max tame gain rate, and once that's done do the rest? Maybe allow 100 mage, 100 med, 100 tame for ease of living at first...?

Sound sensible?

How would you start or tweak it for efficiency?


part two of the Q - i have a good mage, i'm thinking of making into a disco/provo mage bard. Is this a viable template for Doom?

when i start a new mage i do pretty much exactlly that.
i pick up 50 taming to save myself some low end work.
then 50 magic to get around.

typically i work my magic first, as i usually dont have room for the med and focus when im done and you can train magic faster with those on.

so i let them raise to GM or 110 if im scrolled and i work my magic and eval.
then once those 2 are done i set my med and focus back down and then start into the barding skills.

music first to GM then lock it.

then from there it dosnt matter.
if your doing disco then disco it is.

animal lore take a day to 120 with a bird, so i do that next to last.
and then vet i take to GM and that is again another fast easy one to do with 2 gamans or 2 lowland boras.

that is of course assuming that you have a tamer that can tame stuff for you to work on.

if you dont have a tamer friend to tame stuff for you then i guess youd have to go in reverse.
lore, vet, taming.
then into the magic.
then into the music and disco.

its a fluid thing.
its gonna be a long haul no matter how you cut it.

and the DOOM bard.
yes, it is a viable temple for DOOM.
its a little buisy what with constantlly provoing everyone onto the DF, which in turn ticks him off more to paunch out more bones, which makes you provo more ect ect ect ect.

key is to get him into disco first.

ive dont it several times.
usually i go in with another bard and we team it.
or i go in as back up to a pack of mages or tamers.

have dont it solo but that was a very buisy time.

Have no friends, so figure it's going to be straight into taming, then magery, then disco, then the rest.

nice idea about doing all the skills 1 by 1.

Why would you train vet and lore seperatly though? why not both at the same time with gamans?

I can imagine provoke mage being awesome fun!

not really sure why i do that.

probablly cause the gamans end up dieing on me with all the fails.

i think i did it once to lore maxed first to see if it made a difference and then just did it that way from then on.
(and i dont think it made any difference)

so just chalk it up as habit.

So dude, I'm at 100 mage/med/eval (needed them to kill my tames) and 100 lore, 70 taming.

I'm going to start my bardic skills soon so i can get some Bakes and farm a little gold for insurance...

What would your perfect Disco tamer plate be?

Can *really* you fit more than Bardic skill into a tamer plate, without a ton of items, seeing as i have...jack bo diddly squat

what i did was ate a advance token.
which gave me 85 taming.

then i took my magic to 110
then worked my animal lore and vet up to 120 (fast and easy)

then i worked up my music and disco to 120.

now. i was lazy and left my taming at 85 and picked up a taming talisman and a ring and watch with taming which took me to cap.

what you could do is even less then that.
get a ring and watch with 10 disco and 13 taming on the one.
and 10 music and 13 taming on the other.
that way you could even cut your disco and music short.

let me know what shard you are on, ill imbue you a ring and watch.

I'm on drachs and europa - i found a +13 taming/lore/vet/mage bracelet which has given me a neat 52 skill points. I cud just about afford that and earnt enough for a GM leather imbued to 100% lrc so I'm doing ok. I also found another taming ring so I'm nearly at 100.

The below table shows what I'm aiming for, and what i am at given my 710 skill cap.

alas, i am not active on drachs.

all north american shards and europa i have 21 fully developed toons (including 120 imbuing) but drachs and oceana all i have is a mage.

ill probablly get working on those 2 shards this fall and into the winter.
