Question about the 2D client

So i keep hearing that people will be able to use the skills and abilities offered in SA on 2D client, i've bought SA and just choose to use the 2D client but cannot recall to "The Darkness" wherever that is, cannot find any of the new skills underneath my skills scroll and probably everything else included... Do I have to start my char in 3D in order to get the skills I want ?? Help appreciated, thank you.
