Question About "Buying In Bulk"

Wilma

I'm still a bit new here and noticed that some spam in chat looking for items and they say "buying in bulk". Does that mean they are unwilling to pay the going price for such goods, AND they expect the seller to bring it to them? Seems that buying in bulk would cost more, as it is a convenience to not only have the items hand delivered, but to also not have to go from vendor to vendor to purchase what they have until you have the amount you are looking for. I know some would say that there is no vendor fee when selling in chat, but, to expect the seller to take less and hand deliver it to them seems a bit crazy.

It's the same principle as IRL when you go buy bulk stuff from Costco/Sam's Club. Sometimes it makes sense and other times it doesn't.

For example, if you are selling something for just a fraction less than market value then there might be value in doing bulk rates because you are going to make less per item but you are going to sell quicker than your competition. You have to think how much your time is worth. You can sit there for 6 days trying to sell 1 set of exodus keys for going rate (potentially losing additional sets) or you can entice people who are interested in a cheaper rate IF they buy more from you. Another good example is the treasures of points... you can sell your drops at the going rate and hope someone will buy you out but there are going to be people that are only interested in a couple drops or getting slightly lower prices so bulk prices helps facilitate that.

Ultimately it will be a case by case scenario and comes down to the value of your time.

Like in real business life there is always choice : make or buy. So those people agree to buy item X with price Y . If more - usually those who have lots of gold have good gear and toons to go and farm that thing.
And also there are always some players who have tons of this item but never put it on vendor , just because..
