Theoretically I can see this happening, with that said here is a possiable Idea


a certian unnamed poster recently launched himself/herself into the spotlight by claiming to releaseing dupe strategies on this forum, they are gettign their 15 minutes of fame but the IP is noted i hope form the stratics powers taht be so it can be passed on to EA. There is all possiabilities of a reverse sting of sorts happening here, noone needs to admit anyhting but if folks were to it woudl let folks know if this theory holds water.

Again this is 100% speculation and nowhere am i stateing this is fact

This recent poster who suposedly released this information is relatevly new to the forum under that name. Greed can take most folks at almost anytime, sure it is a human flaw that many have. Theoretically EA/Mythic could buy a domain name other thant a EA.whateverelsehere, it is relatevly cheap to do so, they do this in hopes of catching fish and here it seems alot of fish have been caught.

EA/Mythic put up a dummy site that has some possiable way to dupe items and post the website on a fourm (stratics in this case) that logs all IP's that visit this webpage. a reletavely new poster post that they know of 4-6 active dupes that are active, which perks many folks interest to teh point they are begging each other for the addressee. Folks who go to the site to see what dupes are active then are basicly snared into the web of a trap that has been set, Sure you just visited a website investigateing that would fly for a handfull of folks others are there to see how this is done inorder to try it for themselfs atleast once, then do whatever from there on.

I am sure I can elaborate more on this speculation but it woudl become a much more boreing read that it already is.

Is this a possiability sure, is it fact? NOWHERE am i saying this. this is all speculation. Those who have been snared this last week post if you happened to go to this website leaked onto this forum and we can see if this holds water

As much as I'd like to say that sounds like entrappment, the feds do the same thing. Visit some website run by nationalists that pose aa threat to our national security, and you will get investigated. No if's and's or buts.......

After reading all I have, I am so glad I have never had the millions to even be tempted to buy a hammer or kit......took me eons just to get the bods for a single barbed kit, and an aggy hammer.

How is it entrapemnt when it is being done by a Game manufacturer in attempts to rids its own game of unscrupules folks? Sure there will be some innocent folks caught as i stated before, however this is a virtural world and the rules are put forth by the designers/current owners and in their rules it says they can do whatever tehy like wiht items in their game even though folks are payinga subscribtion to access the game/information on thier servers

All UO accounts are property of EA. They can choose to terminate any account at any time for any reason.

Entrapment doesn't apply.

EDIT:
For entrapment to apply, EA would have to be doing something that involves the US court system. As far as I know they aren't.

Sometimes I wish they would just sue the pants off some of the bigger duping operations.

This would take so many man hours and tracking it would not be worth their resources to do this. If I remember right, you need a court order once you get past a certain point. Can you imagin the pain it would be to find out who used a certain computer at a certain coffee shop, at a certain time, on a certain day, a month ago? Upon doing so, he sent in bug report and emailed Jeremy of his findings. A bit over two weeks later after hearing nothing back from UO Bugs or Jeremy he made a direct request for action to be taken on the dupe. When no dialog followed he released the dupe publicly, in the hopes that public view would expediate the process of having the bug fixed.

Here we are over a month later, something is finally being done. How long do you think it would have taken the developers to cut off character transfers and noob accounts if this stuff never made it to the public eye? Think what you will, and speculate all you like, truth is Beerman72 only wanted what was good for the game...which was to see the dupe fixed and the asshats using it removed.

In regards to your original post Alvinho, Beerman asks about the dialog you and he had in regards to the duping, or in your own words that lack of. You wish to speculate on him now eh, the same person you called a liar but whom you now see was telling the truth? As I said he never did anything wrong besides finding something fishy then reporting it to the proper people. yeah stratics has his IP, so what?

Its been nearly two months since you and Beerman got into it over the recent dupes existence, dont you think its time you got over being buttsore about being wrong as to its existence? Loking back at my history, I have never had any such conversation about no dupes existing, so I am not sure at what you are gettign at.

My post simply put is asking any of those who were banned this week, and no My accounts are active, if they had visited any sited claiming to be able to dupe. Unless you can show me where I said dupeing was ok, which I am very strong against it , anyone trying to buy a certian set or single item out of a few sets I have can tell you that I dont play that bull**** dupeing crap

Funny If it is the same Beerman That I knew he and his wife were in the same guild I was in one time and we got along just fine, and knows my stance on anything that is not legitimate, thus the reason I left the guild that we 3 were in, as far as me slaming anyone I am just speculateing on the reasoning on why folks were banned, not makeing any acusations but speculation on those that were banned if tehy had visited certian website as a common link of this whole mess
