Is anyone else still suffering packet loss? I'm losing patience with EA now.

Yep - every evening - 1 2 freeze 3 4 freeze 5 6 freeze. No way to do any hunting unless you are particularly fond of dying.

I had a very similar problem the other night, after cleaning out all the junk files and running a defrag i noticed an improvement for a couple of days...back to being jittery again now though.

To find out your actual Ping/packet loss if you dont have uotrace - Start - Run - type CMD - type "Ping europa.owo.com -t"
let it run for a while and then hit Ctrl +C this will stop the ping and show the stats.

Yes I work in IT support, so I have identified the issue already. And since I only get the issue with Europa server, one can draw a simple conclusion from that

But glad to hear I'm not alone.

yes, my ping jumps from 17 to 87 when it hits here:

IP Address : 82.44.128.110 [ 82.44.128.110 ]
ISP : Telewest Broadband
Organization : Telewest BIC WAN Hayes allocations - Hayes
Location : GB, United Kingdom
City : Hayes, 17 -
Latitude : 51°36'67" North
Longitude : 0°01'66" East

and I've got packet loss from there to EA.

Last time it was the same to Drachs too, not checked that this time as yet

yup, drachs too, Here's the trace:

It's that telewest server. They're throttling us, I would dearly like to know why. Jeremy was told some drivel about 'fair usage policy', which doesn't apply, we're not doing peer to peer and it's not our isps that are restricting us.

Its your routing petra none of my pings go that high. Highest on mine is the europa server at a measly 45.

I'm only pinging 103 to Siege! I guess I'm going to be crafting tonight.

Yep, same problem here. Only started about an hour ago though. Was okay for a few days, but terrible lag about a week ago. Seems to be intermitent. I'm on Virgin BB (formerly NTL).

Oh, and I just lost a Tailor BOD because of it... Clicked yes to accept a BOD, but instead of getting one placed in my backpack, I lagged out for a few seconds, and didn't have a BOD when I came back

I've got a 15ms ping to Europa and no packetloss

I think it's fair to say it's not EA at fault here

I'm pinging about 8ms to Europa, so only unlucky ones being affected I guess.

It would be dependant on the level of traffic going through the routers on the path.
The vast majority of the packet loss problems are occurring during the evening, at the server's location (UK).
Currently, it's a little before midday. The problems will arise in about 6-7 hours.

Yeah this is what I am seeing. I've been in UO most of today, it was fine during the afternoon, but has started lagging out again now from about 19:30/20:00.

p.s. Here's my trace, as you can see my ISP NTL is fine. There are definate problems around hops 9-11, and 12 & 13 slow down. Anyone know who would be responsible for these servers?

Someone needs to get onto Virgin I guess. I might try give them a bell tomorrow, I suggest the rest of you do the same.

I've filled in a help form thing on the website, I got an automated 'we're looking into it' message. Sent them the Telewest server info and traceroute I posted in the thread.

used this link

ahhh yeah Petra Fyde, sorry forgot about your earlier post. Looks like we do have the same problem.

So, do you reckon this is something Virgin BB will sort out? If I remember correctly Virgin took over both NTL & Telewest?

Only thing I can think of is they've changed the routing and now have bottleneck issues? Sound possible?

I'll complain about this to Virgin, maybe if they get enough requests they'll take it seriously.

I've added the link I used, maybe if we all send them the information on the dodgy telewest servers they'll get the message?

Thanks for the link Petra Fyde.

I have now submitted a new enquiry. Hope they do something about it.

Half our guild is having problems, and we're using different ISPs, so it's not just down to them I'd say. Not that it bothers me a great deal, have no motivation to login, especially if I'm going to run around freezing randomly :p
