Not Happy with Reptalons :(

Just finished taking two to five slots and they are decent but not worth 5 slots IMO. They are just so Junky after the tame that it is difficult to make them worthwhile. What makes them worthwhile of the 25/75 poison energy damage and you can load them up with HP, STR resist and Stam. But they are still a bit of a let down after it is all said and done.

I did pretty ok with a reptalon on test shard. I added the magic ability 'piercing' to it

I think my disappointment with Reptalons goes back to their release with ML. Just a shame that they turned into one of the biggest pet flops in UO history given the potential they had. Was really hoping they would be able to be brought up to different but equal with Hiryus or cu's.

What I did discover is if you can find a really crappy Reptalon that is only a 2 slot you can make much better than one that is a 3 slot

Oh! I assumed 2 slot was normal, so I didn't note anything down, probably low strength. All I noticed was 105.9 max wrestle and 75 energy resist hp was 400 ish.

His strength hit 700 which was all I was worried about, at 4 control slots and 800hp he can handle Tokuno and Ilshenar lvl 6 treasure maps, not trying Fel/Tram maps till he's finished.

Added armour Ignore and Poisoning and on test he can hit 1025 health with 814 points left over, usual resists etc. Nothing fancy, bit of a bruiser.

Question is can a pet under the new system cope with say Blackthorne Captains? Tamer Treasure hunter so my scopes fairly limited and not expecting to out perform my ABC archer or sampire.

I've done various blackthorne captains with the new pets....different captains might need different pets tho and from my experience macer and possibly fencer are hard if not impossible to kill because of their regen rate coupled with high parry

They are more useful than pre pub 97 but still marginal when compared to other pets IMO.

Cu Sidhes and the new drakes might shine at the blackthorn captains, since they don't deal any physical damage, which triggers consume damage on some melee captains.
I still think that a pure paladin is the fastest way to go there.
