No sound with Classic Client

Hey guys I have a tech qusetion I have the Classic Client and it runs fine but I can not get it to play any sound. The background music works and I have tryed uninstailing it and re downloading and I still have this happen.

if UO Background music is working - is 'Sound' turned off?

under Options (paperdoll Options)
on the Sound and Music tab (under options - top left, looks like a music "horn")

is "Sound on/off" selected and checked, and is the slider set to 255?

I wish it was that easy of a fix but sadily that was the frist thing I checked for and the sound was on and set for 225

Also I threw on the new Client and I have sound working fine right off the bat with it.

I believe settings like sound are saved uniquely for each character, in cc at least -
re-installing may not help as character folders may remain in place,
and retain the same as the previous installation, on reinstall.

You hear the UO theme background music on initial loading of UO?
do you also hear 'battle music' for example, once the character is in game?
