Meeting on the marble chess board, the readiness of combat was thick in the air, sparring occurred about the ranks, and the idle chatter of conversation seeped through the gathering. It was not until Dawn strode to the center of the board that all fell silent, Lady Dawn gave a powerful oration.
The setting soon shifted to a peculiar fortress, lined with swamp land, seeming to be contained inside of a cave. A single scaled hand slammed against the opening, not noticing the ranks that were filing quickly out of a mage's gate. The action had begun before the occupying Ophidians knew of it, the first wave was battered and began to pull back.
Dawn's cadre of combatants made quick work of the carapace of the dread spiders, but evidence of their true quarry soon became evident. Strange creatures, seemingly tainted with shadow it's self! They came in many varieties, Terathan, Ophidian, Dread Spider, even creatures thought only native to the Tokuna Isles, the feared Yamadon came in this peculiar new form. Soon Dawn pushed onto a small landing, leading down into the fray of a Terathan Ophidian skirmish, she was quickly followed by the footfall of Britannians and the arcane movement of mages.
This battle was more difficult, even the unpredictable Shadow Fiends of the Unseen reared what could loosely be called it's head. As the swamp pit was cleared, the spiders seemed to finally be pushed out of the surrounding corridors, and so, Dawn urged her people forward.
The occupying forces rallied down a long winding corridor. Every inch won claimed the life of more of these strange shadow beings and Britannian alike. Like a stream swelled from rain, the force simply moved around it's bleeding comrades, allowing healers to work, finally bottle necking. A bard had provoked Shadow Terathan and Shadow Ophidian onto one another, pausing to watch the ponderous combat for a moment, an archers bolt soon brought the combat to a head, the fell within seconds. It was then that the shrill cry of a Yamadon echoed through the halls and made for the rather cramped force. Shields and sword raised alike, if not for the work of a mage, later identified as Cal Hurst of the Infinite Mercenary Company, the front line may have seen higher casualties.
Finally pushing to a small gulch, the final battle began against one of the most fearsome creatures to be sighted in this campaign. An Ancient Shadow Wyrm. Three of the horrible winged creatures reared their crested heads, but the determination, wit, and perhaps the very presence of Dawn won the day. Rewards were scare, an unidentified undead was cited to have captured two Cloaks of Silence from the inky corpses, this is unconfirmed, although the sight and lending of open ears on behalf of the mysterious Nestor and Eris may be enough for some.
