New Level Sync Update!!!!

From the main page of FFXI Official Site. Huge change for everyone!! Can't really see a bad thing about this. It's gotta be one of the best changes yet. You don't have to worry about finding a tank or healer at your level now, just need to find someone LFP.

From the FINAL FANTASY XI Development TeamNew Level Sync Feature to Change the Way You Party! (08/25/2008)The FFXI development team is proud to announce the "Level Sync" system, a revolutionary new feature in the upcoming version update that will allow all players—grizzled veterans and novices alike—to adventure and gain experience together regardless of level differences!

The Concept
The development team has been listening intently to feedback from players, and working hard to address concerns such as the following:
"I can't party effectively with my friends or linkshell members because our levels are too far apart!"
"I invited one of my friends to play FFXI with me, but we can't party together because we don't have any jobs at similar levels!"
"I can't find anyone close enough to my level to party with!"

The new Level Sync system is the result of extensive discussions on how to resolve these concerns, while preserving game balance and avoiding abuse and power-leveling by RMT groups. It addresses the issues that have resulted from a steady stream of new, low-level players joining an existing game world populated by scores of high-level veterans, and is part of the ongoing effort to clean up the FFXI community and remove players in violation of the users' agreement.

At the heart of the feature is the new ability for members of a party to "power down" to the level of a designated target player. Now friends will be able to adventure together and gain experience as if they were all the same level!

With the introduction of this system, there will also be major changes to the way equipment is handled in regard to level restrictions. Rather than automatically unequipping items if a player's level is reduced below the item's minimum level, the attributes of high-level equipment will be scaled down proportionally to the reduced level.
This will apply not only to the Level Sync system, but to all level-restricted areas and missions. This means that players will now be able to participate in various battlefields, Assault missions, and Ballista, and also to adventure in level-capped areas such as Riverne without the hassle of having to switch equipment!

Read on for more details about how the Level Sync system will work, and examples of how equipment and experience-gaining will be affected.

How it Works
When Level Sync is activated, the level of all party members will be temporarily reduced to that of a target player designated by the party leader. For as long as the Level Sync remains in effect, all party members – regardless of their original level – will be able to gain experience as if they were actually the lower, restricted level.

e.g. With a party containing characters of Levels 75, 48, 46, 30, 12, and 11:
If the target character is Lv. 11, everyone will become Lv. 11.
If the target character is Lv. 12, the Lv. 30-75 party members will become Lv. 12.
(the Lv. 11 character will remain Lv. 11)
* If the target character gains a level while Level Sync is in effect, the other characters' levels will automatically adjust to reflect the new target level.
* Level Sync cannot be used in areas or events where a separate level restriction already applies.
* The Level Sync settings are easily accessible from the main menu.

Three simple restrictions will be implemented to ensure that the Level Sync feature is not abused and does not provide an excessive advantage over traditional leveling.
1)The minimum target level that can be synchronized to is Level 10.
2)The party leader and target player must be located in the same area.
3)There will be a buffer period of thirty seconds when deactivating Level Sync.

Gaining Experience
When Level Sync is in effect, players will gain 100% of the experience and limit points possible to gain at their reduced level. Be aware, though, that no EXP will be gained if the target player is unconscious, removed from the party, too far away from the battle location, or otherwise unable to receive EXP at the time the monster is defeated.
In addition, the amount of EXP lost when rendered unconscious will be calculated based upon the player's reduced level.

Equipment
As mentioned above, equipment will also be temporarily powered down to match the player's reduced level. Attributes that will be affected include: DMG, DEF, HP, MP, Status Effects, Accuracy+, Attack+, Ranged Accuracy+, Ranged Attack+, Magic Accuracy+, and Magic Attack+.
* The current plan is for other special properties (including Evasion, Enmity, enchantments and ability bonuses) to be negated entirely.

Ex. 1) Centurion's Sword (Lv. 30)
DMG: 19 Delay: 225 Accuracy +3 Attack +4

Ex. 2) Askar Zucchetto (Lv. 75)
DEF: 23 STR+4 DEX+4 VIT+4 Haste +4%
Set: Max HP Boost

Ex. 3) Goliard Clogs (Lv. 75)
DEF: 19 DEX+4 INT+4 MND+4 CHR+4 Evasion +5
MP recovered while healing +3 Magic Accuracy +2

* The attributes in red will be scaled down relative to the player's level.

Also, low-level players need not be discouraged! Statistics on higher-level equipment (including HQ and rare items) being scaled down will be comparable to those of common items at the target level. This means that lower-level characters who have obtained special equipment via quests, notorious monsters, or HQ syntheses will still have the best gear available at their respective level!

There are still more exciting new changes that will be introduced, so keep an eye out for the full details to be posted on the day of the version update. Until then, happy adventuring!

Oh. My. Gosh.

I just saw a vision of room in my mog locker!! No more killing the experience and thus having to leave a party for the sake of the group. Oh I can't wait.

Yowza! This is great news for newer players, who the game was less appealing to. After so many years, the census probably shows a huge gap now that makes it difficult for younger leveled characters to truly enjoy the game. Good move and timing on SE's part. ;)

It's also of great benefit to veteran players too. Not only does this allow you to play with your friends right from the get go, but it also allows you to go back and level those Sub Jobs that you couldn't do because of a lack of XXX Job. PPL from my end game shell are already planning on how quickly they will be able to get Maat's cap now.

Oh wow, that something I've never seen an mmorpg do before. That's really helpful O.O.

There's been some speculation that they had been beta testing this ability with the use of world passes where you can cap yourself, but I don't know anybody who actually used that ability. This new ability is the first real nod towards low-mid level adventuring that SE has done. It's something thats needed to happen though. Heck on my server, if you do a world search, nearly half the ppl on will be on 75 jobs. This really limited the amount of ppl you could party with. Also, many ppl had already leveled healers and tanks. With only 2 real tanks recognized in the game, this severely limited the number of partys you could have. Especially because not everyone likes to tank or heal. The vast majority of jobs were DD types that were competing for the elusive tank or healer. Now I'd be perfectly willing to party my 75 whm sync'd to your lvl 11 Dunes party. I'd have been willling to do this if I could have before and would have had to buy new gear for it, but I don't even need to do that now. Need a tank? I got a 72 PLD that I would LOVE to party with you at any level in any area! You got a NIN you need to merit? I've got lvl 20 THF, LFP in Qufim that I'd like to level for use as a SJ for SAM!

If you haven't noticed, I'm really jazzed about this update and can't wait!!!

Oh I hear ya, I am too! When Youngun joined and started playing, I would work jobs I really didn't wanna work just to play with her. Same with other friends. No more of that! And yay for not having to take 50 and 75 gear every time I want to do the ENM in Monarch Linn!

Aww.. but it was so fun watching an alliance run through Riverine B heading towards Bahamut nekkid. Screaming like little school girls as they agg'd the occasional Hippogryff or Wyvern. LOL. Still, I started dropping all my capped gear awhile back, but held onto some stuff to help with CoP. Now I'm gonna try to dump that stuff too. Hopefully, I won't take too bad a hit.

No way, are you kidding? Hubby and I duo the drakes for the scale, NIN and WHM. And the occasional Hippothingy when it aggroes. I can't imagine a naked alliance having any trouble. LOL I seriously laughed when I read that.

I'm sure we'll all take a bad hit on our cap gear, but the trade-off will be worth it. I'm figuring I can ditch a mule when this comes into effect.

Oh we handled them just fine. BLM just slept them, but I loved the imagery lol. Plus, when you are trying to move that many ppl, you're gonna agg. We just slept them and ran to the next zone. In shell, we'd just make fun of who ever agg'd, and depending on what job they were on, see if they survived into the next zone. LOL

Yay, I'm looking forward to this. I've found tons of really nice people in game, but few of them have jobs around my level. It'll be fun to be able to pt with people instead of hours seeking & campaigning to get exp.

Well.... It IS an end game shell.....LOL. And this last run was to fight Bahamut V1, to get ready ready to do Apoc Nigh. So....we ding on someone for Noob errors lol. Of course, if we had a real Newb, we'd have done escort duty, but for end game 75's not to pay attention? LOL. RUN!!! Did he make it? LOL. {Raise} {Can I have it?} {Please} <pos>. LOL. Of course 1 of the ones to agg was.......ME. ROFLMAO.

:D

Sounds like your endgame shell is a lot of fun. Mine's the exact opposite. lol One sack is condescending, one is a smartass, one yells at the smallest mistake, and the leader, who claims to be 26, acts more like 14. BUT I have 4/5 of my sky wishlist already so I don't complain there, just here. ;)

It's a pretty good shell. If you wanna check out the website, it's at www.exodus-ls.org. We're an all encompassing end game shell. Meaning that we do ALL end game events, plus we treat it as a social shell when not doing events. The trend in Pandy seems to be specialized end game shells for different events. There's Dynamis shells, Sky shells, Limbus shells, etc. Is that the trend there too? Just wondered. And if you ever think about changing servers..We're accepting applications...LOL.

Interesting, I had made this suggestion about a year or so ago. Better late than never!

City of Heroes/Villians have had this feature since day one, my friends out level me very easily, it's nice to know that I need not be left behind now!

We started as a sky shell and it looks to be expanding. I joined a dynamis shell once, went once. LOL we failed, hubby said they all sucked so I never went back. But now that my SMN is a 70.. yeah I'm itching to do Dynamis for the killer SMN gear. Just let me get my Zenith Cuffs first ;) With two main games it's impossible for me to join two endgame linkshells.

We talked about switching servers once.. was going to make it Titan but after listening to my friend complain about that place, I've changed my mind lol.

But to answer you.. yes, there are many dynamis einherjar (sp) etc servers. The big kids play in big endgame servers, and do all the big kid stuff. I'm not a big kid yet. I still have somewhat of a real life. lol
