GM mining plus read the gargoyle's book, "Mining Stone," and you can then single click your shovel to set it for mining ore and stone.
Then read the other book about making items with stonecrafting on your GM carpenter. Buy for him a mallet and chisel and you are ready to craft with stone.
Both books and mallets are available at the Gargoyle city in the center of Ilshenar. Maybe also in Ter Mur, I have not looked.

There is a third book for gm miners, teaches you how to collect sand from beaches for glassblowing.
