so, im converting an old unused magery template i had into a dexer, i have my template in mind, basic abc archer, the problem im having is that my dex is not moving, its set to up, int is set to down and str is locked, im gaining in tactics/anatomy, currently about 50/50 each, but the dex is just not budging, the slow swingspeed im currently at is really irritating, any tricks to unstick stats? anyone, any thoughts?

thanks.

That really depends on your other skills. Stats move fastest when a skill is at its maximum level and marked "up". For example, when your tactics reaches 100 (not scrolled) and you keep it marked up, your dex will fly up like you wouldn't believe!

I had an accident once where I wanted 5 points of intelligence and 5 less points of strength. I marked focus up (I was new and training), then gained about 60 points of intelligence in 15 minutes. Now that's an extreme example of skill gain. With most other skills, you gain more slowly.

If your character isn't maxed out in any dex-gaining skills, then the best thing to do would be to train parry (if you're planning on using it or not). Then you can easily gain from 0 to 100 in a couple of hours, and in the process, your dex should get to where you want it.

And if your template is too tight to lose 100 points for a short time (and you don't have soul stones), then you can use the old fashioned see-saw method of training a dex skill for 10 points and then training another skill for 10 points while letting the first skill drop.

Rumored methods of unsticking (I can't confirm these, but can't discount them either. I never used any except for the getting yourself killed part, and that was just an accident):
Wearing stat adjusting items (or removing them)
Getting yourself killed
Eating a lot
Changing sub-servers frequently

hey thanks farsight

yeah, im thinkin i can soulstone something off for a bit and maybe try parry like you suggested, or something dex heavy. in the past ive had no problems, as you mentioned about the intelligence, mages ive made soemtimes i would get like 1 int point every 2-3 spells id cast for gaining skill, it would go up like nuts. just seems to be a pain with dex.
ive tried the death and eating methods, no drastic change, but ill see what i can do with a soulstone,

anyway, thanks for the reply,
appreciated.

You stats only change when your gaining or losing skills. If you soul stone 120 archery onto your template you won't change your stats. Try soul stoning a skill and building some low level dex skills like lock pick and hiding to about 30. then remove these skills and do it again. This should get your dex up fairly quickly.
