There's a dns problem - you can temporarily give your pc/internet a fixed address by adding a line to your windows 'hosts' file, but you must remember to change it back later in case the server ever moves again.
Here's a copy/paste of the work around posted in UHall:

Apparently the problem is similar to one people had before, and I performed the same fix but with a different IP address:

People are randomly gaining access but this worked for me. Add this line instead of the one in that thread:

107.23.85.115 login.ultimaonline.com

Worth a try if you're frustrated, otherwise you can wait it out. Good luck!

63.117.27.168 login.ultimaonline.com

to

c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\hosts

This will tell uo client that login.ultimaonline.com is at 63.117.27.168.

Once we have a formal response from EA that the problem is fixed, please remove this line or comment it out.

I've lined through the wrong address. Follow the instructions in pbtong's post but use the address in Tardis's post.

should have. The hosts file shouldn't have a file extension (no .txt) and the added line shouldn't have a # in front like the rest of the lines in that file.

It's not affecting everyone.
I believe you need admin access to save the file - or possibly to save the new version to 'my documents' and then move it into the proper folder.

This morning I had the same problem not be able to login..but only on one computer...my other computer which had the 63.117.27.168 address i was able to play..my other computer i had to change to the other address (107.23.85.115 login.ultimaonline.com) then it worked..very odd..but thanks guys for passing down the info

Got it to work and I is in

The "host" file is Write Protected in Windows XP. Taking that off allows you to insert the suggested line, but it's not alas working for me; the downtime has happened since 7:50 for me as I was swapping characters ready for an event... but now I can't get back in alas.
