Huntsman Quest Rewards

I thought tying a top record was good enough to get a reward but it's not apparently. I had spent several million gold and managed to tie records on 2 different shards, went to collect my harvester blades today and nada, no reward points I should have saved all that gold and just bought the damn things

If the record you tied was still in the top spot when the results were calculated, your points should have been transferred when you double clicked on the NPC. Did that not happen?

Yes sorry for my rant it was my mistake. I was just using the context menu on the Huntsman, when I double clicked him I got my reward

Sometimes it doesn't give you your points on the first attempt. Closing and re-opening the rewards gump will give you your points if you've managed to tie or beat the records for the month as well.
