There are 2 types of vendor contract. For your own house you need an 'employment contract'. Stand in the house at the point where you want the vendor and double click the contract. The vendor should appear.

I think the employment contracts are normal, off-white (or whatever you would call it) color. The rental contracts, which are pink, are for you to use to allow non-owners of the house to place vendors.

That is most likely the reason you have the wrong vender contract. Also make sure youre home is set to public.
