Help a housing noob go from keep to castle

I just acquired a neighbors house and now have the necessary land to change my keep into a castle! But I need to know what the best way of doing this would be. My two houses are a keep and a tower. The keep is on the west part of the land and the tower on the east. Some people say there is a "resize house" option and was wondering what all this entails. Was also wondering if this would be better than just emptying both, dropping, waiting till late night hours, and placing? And help will be appreciated

Resizing is pretty much like dropping it so you will still have to move everything out of both houses. Once that is done, you will need to drop one house, and probably resize the other.

Drop the tower then resize the keep. You'll get one shot at it per hour so don't futz around with anything smaller than a castle, since it can auto place on you I think. Anyways, your stuff will be on the ground unless you chose to bank/put it on spare characters/boats/packies. Get a good idea ahead of time where you are sticking the castle, take screenshots if you need or place a bandages on the ground for the corners/under the house sign by the steps.

If you are very paranoid then use a character with tracking, track for people, animals and mosters many times. Do all this right after server up.

Probably all that is excessive. You might be fine dropping em both and plopping a castle down and moving your stuff in to avoid the hassle, but tbh I'd go the hassle route - I have nice stuff.

woohoo!! Placed and beautiful! lol I went the extreme hassle rt and marked it all in automap and plotted everything out with cloth. Tracked and tracked. Had 2 friends on the wing throwing down earthquakes and fields. Dropped tower and resized keep. It fit perfectly! Thank you two for your very insightful input. Now I have the undaunting task of decorating the behemoth. my fav part
