Circa Age of Shadows. This was when enhancing items came around and there were glitches where if leather had been dyed, it would show up as the above when AOS came out, if I recall correctly.
That looks like a piece of magical armor, can't recall the name of it, that had the better stats unenhanced, dyed shadow color.
