Amazon has updated on their page the release date of Guild Wars 2. Well this got the intrawebz and twitter busy for the Guild Wars 2 Player Nation. Rumors flying around and speculating all over the e-world.
So is it true or is ArenaNet playing it all cool and saying it's not? Is Amazon just jumping ahead for guaranteed pre-orders? Those are the questions the GW2 players and fans are left with.

Recently Amazon.de posted an update to their Pre-Order of Guild Wars 2 with a speculative release date of June, 30th 2012. Now, retailers like speculation just as much as us rabid fans, and often use such things as placeholder dates to encourage early adopters to buy in. Pre-orders are sometimes a good sign of how popular a game will be at launch and is an excellent tool for retailers to judge the amount of stock needed for an item, because nobody wants to run out of the big name titles and lose out on sales. Besides, we’ll be kind and not mention the last time they posted a speculated release date.

June 30th, 2012 very well could be a release date (based upon where ArenaNet is in their development cycle and that psychic who took $10 bucks off me last week), but when it comes time to invest your money in a pre-order, it’s best to wait and hear the “when” and “where” from the publisher, not the retailer. As for now, listen to the All-Powerful Regina, she’ll tell you when it’s time to start planning days off work, and when to warn family of your impending disappearance into the world of Tyria.
