The third and final beta weekend for Guild Wars 2 has come and gone and many gamers are still twitching from withdrawal. While the inclusion of the asura and sylvari was the highlight of this event, the new Keg Brawl activity deserves special mention. Located in the norn capital of Hoelbrak, Keg Brawl is a mini-game pitting two teams of five against each other in what ArenaNet describes as a “wildly popular, incredibly macho norn pastime.” Picture a cross between rugby and professional wrestling, played on an ice hockey field with a keg of alcohol as the ball. That’s Keg Brawl and it’s as much fun as it sounds!

The goal of the game is to retrieve kegs of ale that are launched onto the ice and bring them back to your team’s Ale Collector. The first team to score 11 kegs is the winner. It seems simple enough until you realize that players are free to punch, drop kick, and smash barrels on each other’s heads, all in the name of good fun. It’s a fast-paced action game with hilarious animations that can be a good introduction to players looking to try out structure PvP in a less complicated environment. Just plan to spend at least half of the match sprawled face down on the ice.
