(Player Event) Golden Brew Players: Auditions this week!

Calling all actors!

Do you enjoy the theatre? Are you interested in partaking in an enriching, challenging roleplaying experience like no other? Have you seen other Golden Brew Player productions and are interested in joining? Or are you simply bored over the holiday break and in need of a challenging new project? You may be interested in the following announcement:

The Golden Brew Players are pleased to announce

OPEN AUDITIONS

for our next performance!

The title, which is currently a semi-closely guarded secret, is a high theatre comedy and will be performed the evening of Thursday, February 10th, 2011, as a part of the celebration of the 13th Anniversary of the Kingdom of Dawn, on Baja. This is the Players' largest production since Alice, Through the Looking Glass and will feature Kita Talith, principal director of the Golden Brew Players, in a lead acting role for the first time. Brytt Heathard will debut as assistant director.

We are looking for four talented and committed actors from any shard to join our Baja cast! Rehearsals begin in January and interested actors should count on two rehearsals per week (typically starting around 6PM or 7PM PST), plus dress rehearsals. A serious commitment is required, and we promise you won't forget your experience!

The following lead roles (with vague descriptions) are open, and can be played on alts of any skill level:

• Male role: a character of nobility
• Male role: a stuffy, uptight villain
• Male role: an inadvertently comic buffoon

In addition, we are seeking a swordsman or fencer for the following role:

• Male role: a talented swordsman

Finally, we are interested in one or two extras/understudies who perhaps cannot commit to the full schedule but are interested in participating.

If you are interested in participating in this unique experience, please prepare a short monologue, scene, or musical performance (you can use OOC material but no longer than five minutes, please) and come to the King's Men Theater in West Britain, Baja Trammel to audition.

(Hint: It's the holiday, so no need to overdo - we're going to keep auditions pretty relaxed. We're looking for actors who can recite lines fairly quickly, accurately, and pepper in some emotes and character movement, plus we'll be asking about your interest level and schedule.)

Audition Schedule:
This Thursday, December 23rd (that's right, the day before Christmas Eve) at 7PM PST / 10PM EST

This Sunday, December 26th (yes, the day after Christmas) at 11AM PST / 2PM EST

Please bring:
A book with your character name and email or ICQ.
Something prepared for auditions and thoughts on parts you may be interested in.



The Golden Brew Players are one of Ultima Online’s oldest and most experienced theater troupes. Rehearsals are taken seriously and the final product reflects hundreds of hours of actor work, writer editing, and stagehand preparation. Applicants are reminded that rehearsal schedules involve real time commitment, flexibility, and the willingness to compensate for any of a hundred things which typically try to go wrong in a professional performance.

All male cast, is this a Greek play or an original one?

There are nine actor slots - five have been cast by alumni Players, which happened to fill the three female roles.

Not an original story, but definitely a complete rewrite with our own special twist. Neo's Day Out was a popular performance so we've incorporated some of those ideas and rewritten the (originally 20,000+ word script) into a much shorter version designed for a UO audience.

Bump! Next auditions are tomorrow (Sunday, Dec 26th) at 11:00AM PST / 2PM EST in the West Brit Theater.

We're really hoping to pull off this big production and need four more people, so if you can spare two nights a week for five weeks, we'll teach you the rest. These are really fun and a great opportunity for experienced or new roleplayers alike.

But of course! We still have some smaller roles available if you know anyone with that acting flair who would like to join us. The smaller roles only need to attend once a week, and dress rehearsals. Know anyone?

Update: We're still looking for two more actors if anyone has interest in this! We really don't do plays of this scope very often anymore, so this is a rare, fun opportunity. Plus, it's the first time Kita Talith will be acting in a lead role as opposed to directing, so we're excited to showcase our gal.

Come be a part of what is shaping up to be a great production! First cast meeting is Wednesday, 12/29/10 at 6PM PST with readthroughs starting after New Year, so if you can get in contact with me before Wednesday, we can arrange a tryout.
