An interview with Chen and other members of BTH - as Requested
Hail and well met fair citizens of Origin.
<br>
<br>
Several weeks ago a Lord Tennyson requested an interview with Chen of BTH. With a title such as Lord I thought I should do my best to fulfill this Nobleman's request.
<br>
<br>
So I set out in search of this Chen person. I figured since he was a member of BTH I would look for members of the guild in the places I find them most often. Sure enough one visit to Despise on Fel and there they were, doing a Champ. They have gotten used to my visits during spawns and have been very accommodating the last few times I've run into any of their members. They were very gracious and offered to pass along the invitation to Chen.
<br>
<br>
A few days later I received a message saying the weekend would be the best time to catch up with each other. That Saturday, while visiting another world in a different time, I received a message that Chen was online and available to chat. By the time I was able to cross several centuries to get to Sosaria, Chen & BTH were engaged in a Harrower on Legends. (Time travel is not as simple as you would think, even for a Ghost.)
<br>
<br>
Being a dedicated reporter I wasn't about to let something as trivial as a shard boundary get in my way, especially after crossing somewhere near a millenium to get this far. Quill in one hand scroll in the other, off to Legends I went. Through prior communications I made my way to the Fel Moongate in Skara Brae where I was greeted by a red gate. On the other side I found myself at the entrance to a dungeon and being warmly greeted by several members of BTH. Like many members of our world Sosaria, Chen's name differs from shard to shard, on Legends he is know as Shank.
<br>
<br>
Here is how our conversation went.
<br>
<br>
Blob Squad: hail thee son
<br>
<br>
Shank: aha
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Hail
<br>
<br>
Shank: Welcome
<br>
<br>
Shank:
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Now a warning
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I use journal converter and quote you, so say only what you wish to be repeated.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Fair enough *nods*
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: I am the one and only.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I guess when a guild claims to dominate Origin as BTH has that creates some curiosity among our readers. I've been watching champ spawns occasionally when I can, and I do admit, if I find anyone there at all it's usually BTH.
<br>
<br>
So I guess my first question to you would be. What is it like to manage such a large guild across 2 shards?
<br>
<br>
Shank: Well I just want to let you know first off, I'm not the GM of BTH. Grav here is the Co-GM.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Ok.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: However.... Shank is one of our most respected members.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Anyway, as far as handling both shards... Right now we're doing a harrower here, and we're also raiding two spawns on Origin as we speak. It's just a matter of communication.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: So if I pop over to despise when we done here I'll find you guys there too?
<br>
<br>
Shank: More than likely, actually, they are there right now. Just checked.
<br>
<br>
(Just a note to our readers here. I did in fact check on Despise - Origin directly after we finished here and sure enough BTH was doing a spawn.)
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Don't worry I've promised never to let any spawn info out while it's going on.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: It's ok I pwn this shard.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: No one know's I'm here, not while I'm here.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Well... actually we don't mind
a fight now and then is what we're really all about.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Better fights?
<br>
<br>
Shank: Exactly. We've been to several shards before Legends, and have done quite well for ourselves so far.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I'd be interested in watching some of your fights. Unfortunately the little I've caught have been with some of your - lets say less experienced fighters. I haven't reported cause I think your guild in general is better than those few battles I've seen.
<br>
<br>
Shank: *nods*
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: The guilds strength is not only in the leet skills of individuals. It's also in how committed each person is to the guilds whole.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Well, we have good leaders in the guild... Grav Hurr, Town Drunk, Beast and well.. there is Pubamoto
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: *grins*
<br>
<br>
Shank: He keeps everything in order. *nods*
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Most of what I have seen of BTH has been uncontested spawns. Or in 2 cases, 2-3 BoP giving 8-10 of your guys a real run for their money.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Well, if we are contested... The true strength of our guild is we don't give up.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Exactly, we keep coming back to fight... no matter what.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: And everyone, when it comes down to the wire, work well together... The best guild member is not always the most... Leet player. Not really... We have ways to deal with... gimp templates.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Oh no doubt, and an organization of numbers counts for a lot. Especially one which is really organized.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: They can take some temps by surprise.. but are handled easily.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: Yeah, I'm skilled PvPer. I kill anyone on this shard. Right, TD OWNS ALL!
<br>
<br>
Shank: We'll probably be here a few more weeks and then move on to another shard. We plan on hitting all US shards. We've done well on Great Lakes and Lake Austin.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: We owned GL.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Your motive?
<br>
<br>
Shank: Our motive?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Just braggin' rights?
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: No so much.
<br>
<br>
Shank: To find the best PvP we can find.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: To keep things interesting for members that have been with us for so long.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: We left GL cause it was boring, that was our original home. We will continue to move through every East Coast shard. Then West Coast.
<br>
<br>
Shank: As you can see this shard is getting boring. Seeing as how we're doing a prime time harrower uncontested.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I haven't seen anyone here.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: We scared everyone on this shard into hiding.
<br>
<br>
Shank: It's all about the PvP. I mean... If we want gold we can farm Origin all day long chaining Despise spawns, but it's boring. So we travel, to make new friends
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Oh I know about the gold, I've pick up leftovers couple of times when I managed stay alive watching your guild do a spawn in Despise.
<br>
<br>
Shank: hehe, But someone mentioned BoP on Stratics. Who are they?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I've only met a few of them but they are good. Really good.
<br>
<br>
Shank: We haven't seen that guild in weeks now.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Me either, but I've been playing in a different world for weeks myself.
<br>
<br>
Shank: They had a couple good guys.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Yeah they did, I watched them, very impressed. I have some screen shots if you want names.
<br>
<br>
Shank: No thanks. Was there anything else you'd like to know?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: No, I think I can write something up for the masses from what we've discussed.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: Wanna know the numero uno is? ME!
<br>
<br>
Scratch: Numero uno town drunk lmao.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Not interested.. But we do have some things we have to get ready to do. We're about to wrap this harrower up aye.. And we need to get folks in the right spots.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: Well tell them Town Drunk is coming for them, they better hide now.
<br>
<br>
Blob Squad: And the squad.
<br>
<br>
Shank: lol
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Thank you, Ghost Writer. Can I get you a gate out?
<br>
<br>
Shank: Thanks for the time.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I'll follow you down for pictures if you don't mind.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Sure, come on, it may be in black/white though.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Hope you don't mind if it's in black and white. No offense.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Don't worry about me staying alive. I can still get color pictures.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Ok? Even as a ghost?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Grav Hurr is attacking you!
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Kal Vas An Flam - Wither
<br>
<br>
You are dead.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: We don't allow blues in till we have scrolls out. No offense.
<br>
<br>
Then I read these ominous signs as I followed along in my death robe.
<br>
<br>
: Beware Ye Who Enter These Halls!
<br>
: Go no farther, lest ye face thy death!
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: It's not ready yet... We just can't take too long.
<br>
<br>
The Town Drunk: No real harrower killers on this shard. On Legends we taken over 50 spawns. Thought you should know that.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I'll mention it in the interview.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Ghost.. how long have you been writing for stratics?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Since the release of Mondain's Legacy.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: I got another question might interest our readers.
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Sure.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: What does it take to join BTH?
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Mostly... you have to know someone. But if you prove yourself on the fields, and you show interest in the guild.. We will give most folks a try. However, there are strong rules to follow as a recruit.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: These suckers are pretty tough Huh?
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: heh, very. We had one last night that was mobile. This one's slow.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Gonna be fun to try to read through this journal.
<br>
<br>
Shank: What? I can't understand you and Grav stepped out for a moment. C'mere and I'll res you.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Hail
<br>
<br>
some damage has been healed : 49
<br>
some damage has been healed : 20
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Thanks. Gonna be fun to try to read through this journal. Is what I had said.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Ahh, Ok. I'll bet.
<br>
<br>
Ezra: lol I'll just take longer.
<br>
<br>
Devious Desire: lol
<br>
<br>
At this point we had been standing around a good 10 minutes while BTH worked the Harrower. Very efficiently like clockwork, no one moved, no one had to. They methodically cast spell after spell in a very obvious pattern, each member having their tasks and always hitting their mark. I've cleaned up over a hundred pages of spells from this journal, you could see definite patterns. I just stood there observing and watching the Harrower's life bar get lower and lower.
<br>
<br>
<img src="http://uo.stratics.com/newspics/origin-bth-harrower.jpg" width="582" height="529" border="5">
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: k, Ghost, no offense, but when the thing drops you have to drop friend. We can res you after the scrolls are out.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Yeah.
<br>
<br>
Ezra: Ghost, attack me please. I gotta kill ya.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: You are attacking Ezra!
<br>
<br>
Your defense chance has been reduced!
<br>
<br>
Ezra: Vas Flam - Fireball
<br>
<br>
the true harrower: Feel the delicious pain!
<br>
<br>
You are dead.
<br>
<br>
Ezra: K, I'll res you once the scrolls are out.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: K
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: Sorry Ghost. Where are you?
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Hail
<br>
<br>
Grav Hurr: K
<br>
<br>
Shank: Well, have a good one. *wink*
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Any good scrolls you want to mention?
<br>
<br>
Shank: Well, these are Stat scrolls, not skill scrolls.
So we got 13, +25 stat scrolls.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: Ah, cool. Well thanks for your time. Nice to meet you.
<br>
<br>
Shank: Ok I gotta jet, take care.
<br>
<br>
Ghost Writer: C'ya
<br>
<br>
And a red gate opened that took me back to Skara Brae Moongate, and so ended our interview. Hope that satisfies Lord Tennyson's curiosity or maybe wets his appetite enough to seek out Chen and BTH for himself to gain further knowledge.
<br>
<br>
Until next time, safe travels to All,
<br>
Ghost Writer
