I'd suggest Trillian. It can also combine your other Yahoo/AIM programs into one client, and in general runs as much less of a resource hog. Just thought it might be worth mentioning!

Do u ever have trouble adding/authorizing people on icq with trillian? I did... a lot. So when i got new comp i just got icq

Another neat thing about Trillian is that it also includes IRC support.
Not tried it yet though.
As far as the adding names/contact list bugs I did have those but only on much older versions, it's been awhile since I've had any real problems with it.

its irc part is rather annoying. use mIRC (i think thats the name)
