From the desk of the King

It is with great sadness that I send word of the untimely death of Mr. Erasmus Battersby, Curator of the Britannia Heraldic Society. Mr. Battersby's dedication to his work was outstanding. His honesty and caring for our cities and townships cost him his life. Woe unto the person/persons responsible for his death. His death will not be taken lightly nor forgotten. Justice will be served.

Funeral Services are as follows:

Funeral services will be held in Nujel'm- Trammel. Portal gates to the service will be opened 30 minutes prior to the service.

Day of Service: June 1st

Time of Service: 7pm pst

Burial Procession to Nujel'm Cemetery will take place after the service .

It is requested that the Town Guard attend in full uniform to provide Escort of the coffin at this time.

Pall bearers are requested, as Mr. Battersby had no known relatives.

Flowers may be given prior to the service. They may be placed in the mailbox at the Chapel beside of the EM Hall, or in the mailbox at the Baja Museum.

My gratitude extended to Grindylow the Hag for the planning and arrangements for Mr. Battersby.

Who is this man and why are we mourning him? Yes, I'm aware he was murdered the other day, but I see no reason why my taxes should go toward his funeral.

And expecting the Town Guards to behave in a professional manner? What a joke! You'll be lucky if they turn up at all, and luckier if they're not all nude and sloshed and piddling on the coffin.

This would never happen in Umbra.

ETA: I know that our reporter died or ran away to Earth to fornicate with the daughters of men or something like that, but could somebody please explain to me the circumstances of this man's death, and how on earth the head of the Heraldic Society managed to give his life for the cause? That's not a cause that people are murdered over. What did he do? Did he put a unicorn on somebody's family crest instead of a horse? Did they demand a serpentine dragon and he would only give them a regular dragon? Did he charge extra for sparkles? For God's sake, somebody tell me what is going on - and it had best be a decent story, not more of this "He was walking along and suddenly OH DEAR HE KEELED OVER and now Lindae has to pay for his funeral for some arcane reason" flimflam.

And why should I give him flowers? Do you have any idea how much flowers cost in my homeland? I'll give him a novelty buttplug if you're not bloody careful.

Erasmus Battersby was the head of the Heraldic Society that helped recognized the independent townships. It had been such a long time since I had heard the name that I had confused him with some other town officials. As for the reason, you need to see the conversation "Murder, She Wrote".
