anyone care to opine if there will be much of a market for these scales after the publish goes live?

Maybe - but then again, to me they are much more valuable turning in for talismans in the library (20 per scale)

I have 10,000+ of each, but I agree with Basara. If nothing else, the starting price of the scales has been dictated by the library turn in (it's what, 15 gp per point, so at least 300gp per scale at minimum).
