"Could not read version config file: vercfg.cfg" : How do I fix it ?

As of yesterday, after a computer crash, when starting UO (2D client) I get the following error message : "Could not read version config file: vercfg.cfg".

I can still play the game but apparently, it won't look for patches.

How do I fix it if I cannot look for patches ?

There must be a solution other than unistall UO and then having to redo it all over, patches included.

Can't I just get the vercfg.cfg file from EA/Mythic somehow ??

That file is a very simple 6kb text file. You could copy/paste the contents from a notepad file as long as you chose 'all files' as the file type and named it complete with the file extension. It's a little too big to just copy/paste into a post, but I am willing to upload it to my personal webspace if you trust my link.

Thanks for the help, I got another vercfg.cfg file from someone and it now is back to working.
Just getting the file fixed the problem, no uninstall was necessary, luckily.
