There is a connection. Trubo Saius.
After Lord Casca was elected the Monarch Pro-Tempore of the Britannian Kingdom, he 'summoned' a man known as Trubo Saius to fill the role of Lord Emissary. Trubo quite literally became the eyes and ears of the monarch; his submissive lapdog. While we suspected that Saius was being manipulated via magical means, it was only later that we confirmed the necklace he wore allowed the Elven tyrant to control him from afar.
After we managed to turn back the invasions on the Independent Kingdoms (Dawn, Avalon, Horseshoe Isle, et. al.) and destroy the portals that the mercenaries were using to attack us; Royal Knight Dawn finally emerges from the woodwork during the last few days of the war to tell us that we should investigate the true nature of the Lord Emissary.
Before Operation Royal Flush (The Britannian Rebels) and the Scythian League (The Independents) could conclude the investigation; we had no other choice than to launch our final attack on the Temple of the Shadowlords in a (very desperate) attempt to banish them back to the Nether. We succeeded. Casca was left vulnerable and was killed a week later when attempting to lunge for the Royal Knight.
The Aristocrats of Britain hailed the latecoming Lady Knight as the Hero of the War of Shadows (*coughs*) and crowned her Queen of Britannia. We then watched as a hooded figure (assumed but not confirmed to be Trubo) emerged from the shadows during her coronation to make a failed attempt on her life. Saius was responsible.
We were prompted to continue our investigation and discovered that Trubo Saius was a member of Blackthorns inner circle. We finally confronted Saius in the Exodus Dungeon and managed to bring him back to Britain where he languidly rests in the Guest Room of Castle Britannia to await trial for war crimes.
So what do we know? After Blackthorn had convinced himself that the Britannian (or Akalabethan) throne was his for the taking, he gathered to himself an inner circle of what is implied to be nobles and aristocrats sympathetic to his cause. Trubo Saius and Zephera were amongst this inner circle; as was a Tyrius whom we've not been introduced to yet. Leena of the Lycaeum believes there to be as many as thirty amongst this inner circle. We also have reason to believe that these nobles came into the fold after Blackthorn had fallen under the sway of Darkness; so it is doubtful that in their bid to master the people of Britannia, they adhered to the much more liberal ideals of Chaos. We know that Trubo Saius was a soldier during the Third War of Darkness (Exodus War). He led the attack upon Minoc. It is unclear what rank he possessed; whether he was a Dragoon or something else. And Zephera seems to imply that Saius was not always evil and that we should spare him.
As for my theory? I believe that after the Third War of Darkness the armies of Lord Blackthorne were scattered to the four winds. The Savages. The Dragoon and Controller Legions. The Juka. It is plausible that these men became mercenaries less out of betrayal of their ideals but out of need. You can't fight for an ideal if you are dying of starvation. But that still doesn't explain all of it. And it doesn't explain how the Chaos Dragoons and Juka came to be associated with a tribe in the Land of Feudal Lords.
And considering that the Juka are a non-human race that was responsible for the slaughter and subjugation of many Britannians; how would the Purity League justify their stance?
