Changing the location of User Data

Per default, the user data is stored under ...\documents\EA Games\Ultima Online Legacy\User Data

Unfortunately that is highly inconvenient to me. Is there a way to change the directory where the user data ist stored? Or at least rename the folder?

It is not recommended to attempt this, as it is not intended.

However i seem to recall that running in compatibility mode for windows 98 (vista/7 only) will make the settings files be stored in "\Desktop" within the game directory.

Though i cannot guarantee it will run unaffected

Thanks for the heads up - now I just have to figure out, how to do that with W.I.N.E on SuSE, but at least now I have a place to start looking
