Casting Focus or Damage Eater?

Hello everyone,

I'm returning to the game after a few year break and am building a focused wrestle scribe mage. I'm wanting to build a suit with damage eater/casting focus maxed but was wondering if it's worth the properties or if it would be better to just get other properties maxed out like mana increase etc?

I mostly like to duel but would like to field fight as well. I was thinking of not worrying about damage eater but if it is beneficial then I would attempt to fit into my suit.

What's your take?

With the new loot going around at the moment its easy to max out casting focus and also have eaters. When I say easy I mean as long as you have the gold to buy the parts. See the traders hall for examples of the awesome loot people are selling.

In theory it should be easier but it isn't really as you're always at the mercy of what's available and what you're willing to pay. I had a fairly high Casting Focus, Necro/Scribe/Mage and didn't find it all that great. With pure you can have 30 SDI so I'd get that then CF and DE/MI last.

Thanks guys.

I'm good on the funds so I should be able to buy anything to get me going. I'm still trying to learn what all this new dungeon stuff is and the new caps that came with. I don't want to spend 150 mil on something and then come to find out its only worth about 10 heh.

Can you craft mage armor as good as the dungeon loot or is the dungeon loot top notch?

The dungeon loot is the best stuff you can get, you can in theory reforge good stuff too but it's a huge gamble and cost.

Thanks a bunch for the help GOD.

Yeah I reforged a few good pieces but after looking at legendary artifacts it appears I'm going to have to invest in a luck suit and starting hunting it up.

Well the main damage eater property that is capped at 17% suit wide (I think). While the others are 30. But Damage eater not fire etc, takes up a lot of imbue weight. So it's better to get a DE piece from dungeon loot as it will have more props etc. If you wanted 30 fire suit wide you could reforge two pieces and still get hp's int mr and all the usualy goodies. It only takes spinned kits to get the 15 percent max as a single property. If you get the rest of your suit in Legendary with high resist you don't even have to enhance them with barbed etc. Just wanted to point out the option of doing a couple of reforges in combination with Legendaries. It makes it easier to get certain mods you can't find for sale in some cases.

Per UO guide, it's 18%. Splitting hairs here, but figured I'd share the link.

And to original poster - I don't think its a one or the other question. I think you should try to really have both considering the current loot now available. Best of luck!

Thanks Just didn't feel like going to guide while I was writing it. I run a warrior suit with 30 kinetic 30 fire 15 damage eater works well for high spawns.
