You might also point out that TSO has had its own share of ***** houses, escort services, age play, furries, mafias, and people who would cyber for simoleans over the years. The main difference in the sex trade between TSO and SL is that the graphics are more .... errr graphic.

And the SL bashers might also note that EA has borrowed heavily from SL in the design of EA Land. Custom content, real world value for game currency, etc. Hey, that gives me an idea for a new marketing campaign slogan:

Come to EA Land, or as we like to call it - "SL Lite".

I will agree that certain aspects seem to be...borrowed...from Second Life. However, I am not looking at it as a copy of Second Life, but more along the lines of TSO catching up to the next generation of gaming. It just so happens that Second Life is a leader on that front.

go dev team go!

so here is how i look at this situation.
You can be reactive, or proactive. You may say that there are cheerleaders, what is wrong with that? Yes we are "paying" the dev team. But we are also paying to play the game that already exists, they are just adding on to it. And custom content was pretty much invented by maxis. The Sims was one of the first (correct me if im wrong) if not, than the most popular custom content machine when it came out.

It was only a matter of time until the online version got on board. So what if the competition had done it first. So does There.com and other various online games. EALand is just catching up, which is smart in the marketing persepective..to be competitive to competition.

Ive always been a chearleader and tried to get people to see the bright side. But i have also gone on Wiki and created a few ideas of my own. The wiki site is brilliant, I dont know if second life has that kind of site (probably dont need to since the players already create the game inside itself) but i think tehy are doing a great job.

On the note about cheerleaders not using logic, well most complainers dont either. If you dont want to pay during beta, dont make a post about it, just play for free and leave it at that. There is no logic in EA making EALand a completely free game during beta, it just doesnt have any logic, they need money and we are paying for the game not only for now, but for its future.

Finally someone remembers that TSO came first and Second Life came after. I get tired of reading how the TSO is trying to copy Second Life when it was the other way around. TSO was out for about a year when Second Life came out. The CC thing wasn't going to work out for TSO and TSO had a Teen rating. So Second Life added CC from the beginning and had nudity and I remember ppl starting leaving TSO cause of that.

I've been here since beta and I stayed this long so I might as well wait and see what is going to become of all of this and then I will decide whether I will stay or not.
