My fellow citizens,

I once again run for the seat of your Governor and humbly ask for your vote. I have had the opportunity to meet so many of you during the town halls I've held and know that together we have done some amazing work. I also know we're not finished! There is still much to be done.

I stand before you a servant of the people beaming with pride at all the accomplishments we've completed this term. The addition of our new jail was one that really brought the citizens out to discuss the various options and the majority voices were heard. I met with the King on this very topic several times, our architects worked really hard to come up with a middle ground. Some folks desired a big building with various jail cells and a full guard post 24 hours a day... some of you agreed we needed a jail but did not agree with the addition of such a big endeavor... and some of you disagreed entirely with jail installation. In the end, it was agreed upon through our various town halls that a small jail, with one main cell would be sufficient for the needs of our city. It took months to oversee the construction which kept me very busy. The end result now stands proudly as a beacon of what we can accomplish when we work together.

Our next endeavor was to try to keep our citizens healthy and heal the injured. While the healers in West Britain is a great place with skilled healers, the need for more in such a large city was evident. So I gathered some health advisors to see what would make the best sense. Finacially, after the jail was built, we were under a tight budget. So I decided that my family, being nobles of the city, would help to acquire the land and fund the construction of a new hospital. The city would retain lease to the building and it would manage the staff and their salaries. This helped to cut down a lot of the costs for the city. The building was completed just recently and now comes the task of filling it with the supplies, furnishing, and needs of a hospital. We must also start to staff the hospital by hiring a Director, skilled healers, and other staff members before we can open it to the public. Like I said, still a lot of work to do but I am confident that you will grant me the honor to continue the work we've started.

And now I speak to the future... a lot of you have voiced your opinions to me about our Library. Believe me, I share the frustration that you all have at the fact that there is no visual reward --- unlike the Zoo or the Museum --- to the efforts of our city's people to upgrade the library. This is something I've been working to get addressed. Until then, we must still push through and engage our local libraries to participate. The Public Library is not just one building in one city, its a collection... a system... of libraries throughout our land. I will be working with the people across the Kingdom to solidify that bond and help each of them thrive. The Benefactor's Dinner raises funds from our fortunate citizens to back new up and coming authors publish their books as well as furnish copies to all our connected libraries.

This term I will also be focusing on expanding the courses that are offered at the Bardic Collegium. Music has always been a huge part of this city, thus it is important to continue to support our musicians and vocalists of the land. Several live performances will be scheduled to take place in our King's Theatre or perhaps at the Bardic Collegium itself. This is surely to delight our citizens!

While rumors have been abundant about yours truly not being around, I can assure you --- and many citizens can also attest --- that I am around. Perhaps I am not running in the circles that I had been seen in before, but I most definitely am in the city. These days I keep only to the city of Britain and of course our family's holdings. The best way to contact me is to leave a note with the City Herald at the city stone.

(OOC: Folks, you can write in a book and drop it into the city stone itself to leave messages for your governors, in case you did not know. I know we're still missing that two-way communication bulletin board and we really should get those back in our Governor's Offices at least. We really could use a mailbox in our Governor's Offices, too!)

Sincerely yours,
Incumbent Gov. Pandora de Romanus,
Countess of Britain
Imperator of Umbra

Pandora makes her way to Marius lab in the Catacombs clutching an article with a heading of "The Britain Post". A newspaper supposedly, one no one's ever heard of and one where this seems to be the only article? Hmmm.

Marius is deep in concentration using his talents to effectively combat the plague that many seem to be effected by. Of course, this lab is unlike any seen in Sosaria. Obviously his training in Oxford at Oxford University as a geneticist comes in handy sometimes.

"Would you look at this?" Pandora says to him as she lays the article next to him so he can glance at it. "The Britain Post? What the heck is that? Never heard of it." He continues to read and starts to chuckle as he looks up to his wife.

"Nice story... fiction of course because a) jail's been built for almost two months now and b) it was in direct request of the RBG of Britain when the citizens were attacked by thugs on the way to the Yew... facts they would have known about had they been around." Marius says, "it's clear that whoever this group is... I mean have you ever heard of a 'Dean Victor'?.... they've got no grasp of the events of the city for last past few years. They must not be from these lands. Which means they are already lying to voters... And voters aren't naive, they know when and why that small jail was built. Many of Britain's citizens were present when you announced the completion of the jail at the council meeting over a month ago. So right there it shows that camp is lying. If they can lie about that, then what else can they lie about?"

Pandora looks pensive. "I have always ran a clean campaign and never have had to resort to smear tactics like this. And I wont. Win or loose, my integrity remains. And I know the citizens will always support me and trust me. I've not let them down."

Marius puts down a flask of some substance or another, "At the end of the day, my love, we know what we've done and what we've not. No one is ever as intimate with our sins as ourselves. You have to do what you are willing live with. I know what's in your heart, what drives you, what fears hound you, and there just isn't a better person to represent the people in my eyes and I'm not the only one that thinks that way." He smiles at her now facing her fully.

His words echo in her heart and mind. She knows the man that stands at her side always gives her strength and a confidence that she rarely finds elsewhere. So many lessons that she's learned from her marriage that have helped her through the darkness. She stands firmly in the sun.

(OOC: Those that have known me forever know that my late husband Lucas played Marius for many many years and I took that account over. Some of the words you read here are not my own but his... Words that will forever stay with me. RIP Lucas J. F. 4/10/74 - 4/8/11.)

Good luck little lady, you have my full support as always. We, the people of CoD, will always miss Luke and we understand the connection this game brings you to him.

Let's hope we never again see the ugliness that caused me to exit from this game many moons ago in a past election! Folks, I plead you to run a clean campaign free of name-calling and tactics that hurt or offend the players personally. I hope everyone understands how damaging that can be to a person and how it can affect their game play. That goes for all sides, ours included.

I have enjoyed the approach of the candidates for Britain thus far. :)

You have my permission. My husband and I fell in love when I was 14 and he was 15. We spent 22 years together before he was killed in a semi-truck accident. He was my soulmate. And this game was such a big part of our life together.

But in the ashes of such a sad turn of events, the light is that Marius lives on and when I step into my characters and play them together, it's like our own love story can live on.

I have since remarried because God found it just for me to have two soulmates in this life. And a new love story plays out for me in real life.

Sure thing! I am always around Britain when I am online, roaming around. I have two offices there now... the official one and the one I set up for myself (long before we had official ones) at the entrance of Lord British's castle.

A bit of history as to why Castle British is where Pandora holds most events, including the Town Halls and chose that as her office, etc. etc.

Pandora and Lord British go way back, matter of fact... in character... they come from the same world, Earth. Her alligience will probably always lie with Lord British, but she accomodates Lord Blackthorn just enough to get him to hear the voice of the people in Britain. To say she fully supports Lord Blackthorn would be an untruth... but she realizes he does a far better job than most would at this time. If Lord British would ever return to this world, it would be him that she would support fully... so in essence she is much rather like a "True Britannian". It was Lord British himself that officiated the wedding of Marius and Pandora in 1998 at Castle British, which is also why she holds the place so dear. It was also Lord British that knighted Marius as Count and her as Countess as his wedding gift for their service to the city... waaaay before you could "buy" royal titles.

Pandora waited in her office in Castle British having worked most of the day on budget meetings and reviews of candidates for the post of Director for the hospital. Just then a familiar face came through the door.

"Working late I see." Va'lis said with his usual tone. Pandora looked up to meet his gaze, "Holy Christmas, it's late isn't it?" She exclaimed, "I'll have to take these home to review." He looked at her with what resembled a scoff. "Some of us actually work at being good governors, Va'lis," she said. Va'lis thought about that for all of ten seconds, "That sounds boring," he said. "Don't you have work to do Governor of Moonglow?" She asked. "I have people that do that for me," he answered. "Ahh but that's what it means to be governor. You actually do the work." She said as she piled the papers into her satchel and swung it over her shoulder.

As she motioned for him to follow her, they started their walk towards the bank of the West. "It's a nice night for a brisk walk, don't you think?" Va'lis followed her and thought to himself, "walking is overrated". None the less they walked.

They came upon a citizen that looked to be lost. He was holding a piece of paper looking for a specific shopkeeper. Pandora stopped, "Sir are you lost?" The man nodded and explained that he had been looking for a specific blacksmith. He had been told he might be found in Britain. When he spoke the man's name, Pandora instantly recognized him. The man was quite famous now and owned a small shop in Britain but a bigger one in Nu'jelm. So she opened a gate to that city, asking Va'lis to wait for her.

Once she and the man had safely arrived in Nu'jelm, she quickly showed him the bigger shop where they found the blacksmith in question. "Thank you m'lady. Most helpful and kind. I must excuse my ill manners, what is your name if I may?" He asked with a smile. Before she could answer, the blacksmith spoke for her. "Well that there is the Governor of Britain." She smiled and said, "Gov. Pandora de Romanus at your service," extending a hand for a shake. The man shook her hand and tried to give her some gold, which she refused to take.

Upon her return to Britain where Va'lis had been waiting for her, she asked him, "Did I take too long?" He smirked and said, "That was awfully kind of you but there was no one around to see it. A waste if you asked me." She shot him a flat look, "Va'lis, kindness isn't a show you put on when people are looking. It is a way of conducting your life." He smiled at her knowing she really meant those words. "It's not going to get you any votes."

They continued their walk, where another citizen was looking for a transport to Minoc for some deals on some ingots. She looked at the man and said, "Well then sir Va'lis is your man, as I am showing him how to be kind to others without motive." Va'lis frowned and tried to complain, but none the less opened a gate to Minoc and escorted the man through. Apparently folks are feeling rather generous for the assistance as this citizen spared Va'lis some gold for his efforts which of course he pocketed.

As they continued their walk, Va'lis took notice at how clean the streets were and how the citizens they encountered seemed happy and spoke at length with Pandora. There didn't seem to be a single sign of the severe poverty or crime that some unknown opponent was consistently preaching about.

They finished their walk at the official governor's office in East Britain. Pandora then gated out and Va'lis followed. The work of the day had been completed, and now began the homework of reviewing all the candidates for the post of Director.
