Those of you present at the recent Governor's Council Meeting witnessed the first stirrings of a new plot. Plague rats were running around the chamber trying to bite people. Over the next few weeks there will be large numbers of rats gathered in various places. You will know these rats apart from normal rats because they will be tagged "A Plague Rat". Anyone who wants to participate in the plot may simply be present wherever the rats are and then RP according to the symptoms below or kill them before other people are infected.
Below are the specs for the plague.
Only the living can be infected and carry the virus.
Duration: Until cured or dies of dehydration or malnutrition or being in a situation where they need magic to survive and can't heal themselves ( common sense effects of being sick or going out to hunt IC when you know you can't use magic ) .
Feel free to ask questions about the plague.
As always, I look forward to seeing you all in game.
Below are the specs for the plague.
Inhibitus Magica
Highly Contagious
Highly Contagious
Only the living can be infected and carry the virus.
First contracted from a bite from a rat.. after that the infected will pass it on via air and all bodily fluids, including mucus, saliva, blood, etc.Resist magic gives a 50% chance to immunity with each contact with an infected person.
Infected are not contagious until the respiratory symptoms appear - coughing, sneezing.
The more mana a person usually has, the more severe the Stage 1 symptoms. Someone with only 20 mana would have the lower end of the spectrum, barely contagious with coughing and sneezing while someone with 150 mana pool would run the full gamut with vomiting and diarrhea and abdominal pain. Midway mana would be like a common cold.
Plague Stages:
Stage 1
2 days (3 days if you have 100+ strength) after bitten/contracted the infected will start to have symptoms similar to a normal flu:
chills
fever
runny nose
sore throat
muscle pains
headache (often severe)
coughing
weakness/fatigue
general discomfort
nausea
diarrhea
vomiting
abdominal pain
cramping
The infected cannot use anything requiring spellwords or mana, which includes but is not limited to the following:
Spellweaving
Magery
Mysticism
Necromancy
Chivalry
Ninjitsu
Bushido
Spirit Speak without a corpse
Weapon Specials
Duration: Stage 1 lasts 2 weeks real world time and then progresses into Stage 2
Stage 2
The only symptom at this point is the coughing and sneezing, as if the plague is going away. The infected cannot cast spells or do anything that requires the use of mana, the same as Stage 1.
