Greetings!
I am posting this short guide on tags, to add some clarification and create an optional system to encourage thread interaction and message board roleplaying.
By tagging your post, you indicate whether or not people can join in on your fun, or if this is meant merely for their reading pleasure. It is a way of separating stories from roleplaying threads.
Roleplaying Threads -
All threads made on the White Stag Inn are considered in-character, unless otherwise noted.
OOC posts made within IC threads must be marked as OOC, as not to be disruptive to the roleplayers active within the thread. (By no means should this stop you from complimenting someones awesome piece, just make sure you mark it OOC and avoid disruptiveness). I will remove posts as per the request of the original poster if a comment disrupts the flow of a story, or is seen as trolling.
Out of Character [OOC] Threads -
Threads marked as being Out of Character are not roleplaying threads, but should still apply to roleplaying, the storyline, or the community. Unless you are asking how to best emulate an Orc, gear and skill questions are best saved for other sections of UOStratics.
Open RP -
This is my favorite type of thread. Here is where you can begin a story, and leave it open for other folks to join in and make their own contributions. By stating that your thread is Open RP, you invite other folks to join in on the fun.
Unless otherwise noted, all roleplaying threads will be considered Open RP.
Closed RP -
Closed RP is similar to the above, except that the writer has selected a particular group of individuals they wish to roleplay with in this thread. This sort of post is still open to the public to read and observe, but the writers have a particular creative direction in mind and have a few planned contributers. To join, you must ask the original poster for permission.
I will move posts that are made within Closed RP threads if requested by the Original Poster. Of course, the original poster should identify this as Closed RP in advance.
Story or Fiction -
A Story or Fiction tag is where you indicate that you are the sole author. You've identified this thread as your own work, and it is not open to contributions from others. These are usually multi-chaptered storylines, such as pieces belonging to your characters past or a synopsis of an event that has a set path.
I encourage folks to compliment an authors work, but please mark these compliments as being OOC so that it doesn't disrupt the flow of their story.
Shard Tags -
If you wish to keep the participants based soley on your shard (such as "Baja" or "Europa"), please mark the shard your thread takes place on either in the title or in the thread. This is a limited form of Closed RP, that is open to members of your shard.
News -
Only shard reporters are allowed to identify their threads as "[News]." You are allowed to post pieces of news, but the [News] tag is reserved for Official Stratics Postings.
Thanks!
