So after years and years of on and off UO, I decide to make a thief. I know, I'm about 10 years too late, but I've never done a thief before and I thought it would be interesting as a new game experience, even if thieves are kind of nerfed.
I just finished him today when someone in General Chat on Atlantic says there is a harrower up. I arrived to a massive battle for control of the harry, so I spent that time bouncing around and familiarizing myself with my new macros as well as practicing my timing for snooping and shadow jumps. The fighting went on so long that the harrower regained health back to about 90%, when he was near redline when I got there.
Long story short, a group finally gets together and drops the harrower, and I spend the last minutes of its life planted firmly next to an unmounted tamer who was comfortably fireballing away while his GD chewed on the harry. I knew he would be doing enough damage to pull a decent scroll and he seemed like the easiest mark there.
I've spent a lot of time reading these forums so that I was informed on the basics before I tried my first mark. I had my arms lore macro set, a macro to use my ward removal tali to drop wraith form, and a basic "use stealing" macro. So I waited. The harrower redlines and I drop wraith form and start hovering my cursor over his backpack.
BAM, harry drops and the familiar little shiny white scroll appears. I don't think he would have even known he was rewarded unless he looked in his journal, because I impressed myself with my timing on my first try. I didn't turn grey so he must not have been notified that he was robbed. No one seemed to notice in the chaos of the harrower dropping because I hit wolf form and was off and hidden without so much as a single pursuer.
I made my way out of the Fire Dungeon and to the Serps Hold bank before I even bothered to check out my prize:
A +20 stat scroll.
Not the best I could have gotten, but not bad for my first score in my opinion, especially for my first trip out. Certainly a fun experience. Kind of makes me wish I had been a thief from the start
