My experience is that their usefulness is debatable (I have +5 carto glasses). Are they useful? And can they be changed to gargoyle use? Tyvm in advance.
Hmmmm, is this true? I remember reading that the +5 from glasses does not push it beyond the max. I wonder if something changed. Also when you have glasses that push you over the cap the radius increases for when you are digging up the chest.
UOguide is written by anyone who wants to add stuff to it and historically has misinformation or wrong data.uoguide says it is taking you over the cap:
" The glasses have +1 to +5 Cartography skill and will go over the skill cap. (Functionality similar to Mining Gloves.)"
I also think I remember Kronix posting something on the official forum along the lines of the glasses working like the mining gloves because they use the same code or so, which might be the source of the claim on uoguide.
I couldn't find the blurb from Kyronix (it might be on the official forums) but luck for chest loot isn't checked until you pick the lock so technically you could go around with your +5 carto glasses to dig up chests with improved chance at getting better quality chest (ie gold) and then once you kill all the monsters; swap over to your luck head piece (Visage if you wanted to use that) and you would be getting the best of both worlds.Luck plays a role in treasure chest loot.
that means:
1. Don’t use a gargoyle, since their potential/max luck is heavily nerfed.
2. The map glasses can be imbued with 100 luck, but can’t be enhanced To 140 luck.
the new fortune visage helm, can be enhanced from 250 to 290 luck. That could well be a better choice than map maker glasses. (?)
Hmmm
I don't want this to come off condescending (because it's not), can you explain how this is wrong (with proof)? But do I want to point out the fact that this is wrong.... Because maybe in a few years they notice it and "fix" it to be worse. Hm
Absolutely - the "paper" items (SoT / SoA / Tmaps) and other items like pardons etc are great and sell pretty good, but I was specifically talking about magic items because I think that's the only thing that in game luck actually impacts (ie paper items / special items are RNG). That said, the changes to the TMaps actually make it harder to get the special items like pardons and minor arties. I used to get tons of those things (m'arties were 1 per chest) but those have slowed to a trickle. In the main the magic items in the boxes are only good for making relic fragments, with a few exceptions. However, my vendor selling SoAs and SoTs from treasure maps is currently holding 94 million gp, so they must be good for something?

That being said, that's why I stopped using a luck suit when treasure hunting because it wasn't showing me any benefit to use for the lack of mana/etc.
Meh - the only true negative properties these days are antique or cursed (brittle/prized are fine) but even these items aren't close to being as "good" as a legendary (brittle) item you might find in UW/Roof. I personally think that antique and cursed items should be able to spawn as the most "intense" properties with up to 10 mods... give a reason to try to use them instead of throwing the in the trash right away.In t hunting too much luck bad as it creates more negative property items
