heh...it took a little bit for me to figure it out too. That particular page is helping identify Pulsars using collected data. Follow the tutorial and it explains how to do it...it's easier for the human eye to see than a computer. It's contributing to research and a bit of mindless fun -- although that site has a lot of similar types of projects using volunteers to help complete science projects of different kinds.

Think of it like...science crowdfunding, but without the money. ;-)
