You know, a cosmetic outfit system in UO would be quite nice.

I'm tired of seeing all my characters in robes and/or glasses.

And it'd be awesome to be able to wear like, platemail, a tunic and a cloak and still get the benefits of all your normal armor pieces.

The quick, dirty, easiest thing to do i think would be make it so you can alter a robe into a kilt/skirt or shirt/fancy shirt and have it take up both slots.

As for the armor - ehh, that ones tricky. I'd like to appear to have plate on that was actually leather too, but i don't see that one flying.

They should have made the glasses (wizards, mace and shield etc) designed for the ears slot, I think if it was IRL situation many would forget their glases were on thier heads LOL

All they need to do is have a show helm/show robe option. Many games that have far less customization options have a show helm option.

I do like the idea of being able to mod an item to be a skirt/shirt and have it take up the robe and skirt or robe and shirt slot though.

But I agree, everyone is basically wearing shades and all our cool outfits are hidden under unseemly bathrobes. UO peeps like to play in style!

How about a possible costume slot that could be added to the paperdoll?

Then the devs could add more pixel art of RP costumes that could be worn in the costume slot and charge a small micro transaction.

I can't imagine it being too hard to code. Plenty of games have the option.

Well most games are coded with that in mind, UO wasn't....that being said, UO works on layers for each item, so I assume it shouldn't be to much trouble to add a new layer? But to have one item take up multiple layers might be more complex, specially if you personally want to be able to alter them to take up those slots and then also have it look somewhat personal. But I always was of the thought of allowing same slot items be changed to any other item of its slot, or maybe allow for any item with a mod to be converted to any other slot that can hold a mod (so a sash could become a belt, and a robe a cloak, and so on.)

I would rather they don't start xing out slots to accomodate modified slot items that has the makeings of many many bugs/glitches! plz don't! Trying to think of a better way to work it is hard... but lets say add another menu to player characters simular to barkeeps where you can customize their looks click this and you will look like you have a kilt on click this and pick out the color you want your kilt. do that for astetics as an option turn on or off and when on you look like how you decide in that menu system when off you look like what your wearing. Since we all min/max our characters theres not many out there who wear stuff without mods on it so this menu driven looks system would work well since most refuse to give up that key bouns off a robe or boots ext just to look right.

I wouldn't mind some new clothes.
Most of the clothing in CC shows up over the armor you are wearing so I just do my best to look snazzy.
But yeah some RP costumes would be nice...*hopes the developers consider that*

I still favor the often proposed "alter an item to appear as another item taking up the same slot".

They should probably skip armor that can have material boni , at least for the first step. But no harm done it altering folded steel reading glasses to look like a feathered hat.

Yeah this would be awesome! I am sick of the clone look, same robe, same hat, same armor, same weapon... Something that always was awesome to me was how you could have so many differnt looks in UO. That part has gone away.. why wear a tunic with no mods when you can have a 2mr 5dci robe..

I would like to see the colored shrouds back, sure it was a bug/glitch and was fixed but that was cool. It let people be differnt from one another and look pretty good.

In LOTRO, you can turn invisible the items you are wearing. and they also a additional layer that they can place pieces in to overlap what they are wearing. The items added in that section do not give any of the bonuses that might be on them. I say give us a New layer to put over our current outfits and allow us to toggle visibility of items currently being worn. I think it be cool seeing people running around In a actual full suit of plate mail, all the same color, or so many a full set of of Phoniex armor just to show off.

Yeah, I'd love it to work like LotRO.

I'd love to be able to wear a full set of plate armor, with a tunic and a cloak, and still get the bonuses of my woodland armor, mace and shield glasses, conjurer's garb and Corgul sash.

Let's count the YEARS it will take them to even acknowledge how many people have been asking for ANY POSSIBLE VARIATION of this.. And for how long. Then we can wait more YEARS until they finally implement it... Broken, traditionally...

I hate cloaks. I'd love to make it a skirt or kilt... or even some sort of sash/quiver.
