You cannot teleport to that spot

I've been teaching a trammel player some pointers on how to play in fel, i took him on a tour of the dungeons and was explaining to him why he should precast teleport before going through sparkles or going down different dungeon levels and showing him common places where people place traps.

The trainee precasted teleport and went through sparkles and on many occasions got the message "you cannot teleport to that spot" I suddenly realised how much useless information I hold in my brain when i then explained to him which spots you can actually teleport to and from where.

Why is it that you can teleport to some places and not others? it makes the game pretty elitist.

They broke something there and I am not sure ever fixed it

Thats wierd, i was just thinking about how much that annoys me the other day.

The original overland/dungeons are pretty good, most of the tiles are teleport-friendly.. but most oft the new areas - t2a/ilsh/tokuno/abyss... most of the tiles there are no-teleport.. its so irritating.

The world builders should wipe every tile in the game clean - make 'em all tele friendly, then go in and hand-code in the ones that shouln't be. (water, for one..)

Yeah thats labour intensive, but it needs to be done. Clearly the logic they're using to determine which spots work and which don't is broken.

(it also screws ninjas.. as shadowjump is basically a teleport)

I don't think they ever broke anything in T2A I don't remember it ever not being that way.

As for the other question, it is a good one. There is a 'reason" but it is not a good one...has to do with z-axis issues and line of sight issues *I know it doesn't say "you can not see that location" but it is related* One would think they would be able to change this by now.

It was the KR or EC tile conversion wherer you could not teleport at most tiles on T2a - I think they never really fixed what they ruined in that conversion

Since t2a came out you have not been able to teleport to like 70% of those tiles...and I do not notice a difference since KR came out, so I dunno.

I think it should be hard to say if you could or couldn't since I doubt many of you back then would have wasted the regs to test every tile there is... I do know what you mean though there's plenty of place in dungeons and such that we can't tele to any more =(

almost every other game i play with a teleport spell works nicely cept not in uo LOVE the spell HATE the failure rates with it! way to often you either cant see that or invalid location it seriously needs perhaps a grid when you cast it that shows viable spots to go to.

When T2A was new teleport was a really big deal. The Terathan fort was an absolute blast.
We used to lure as much spawn as we could out front near where the Avengers spawn. We could then teleport up onto the land that formed a lil bench. Even tho these had ramps to access the same points casting tele made all the difference as far as luring spawn where we wanted. It took awhile but the Devs changed it and it wasn't client related.
