XV Castle Robbed last week. FYI. No responses needed...

Ok! Mystra and I worked out a way for me to have this warning on here, without me breaking any of the "TEN COMMANDMENTS OF STRATICS!".

A guild that just moved here within the past couple of weeks, of which doesn't use conventional ways to play the game (Not naming any names lol), found a way to get into the XV castle and drain the castle of most of the items friend access and under. We are still figuring out how "said person" accomplished it. We heard down the grapevine that "Garton friended him for no reason", which is of course a lie lol. The only people that were friended to the XV castle were Elders and above in the guild. This person wasn't even part of the guild.

I am writing this, not for responses and flames on any guild out there (though, this guild will get what's comign to them. Everyone joining them should be ashamed. Not to compare them to people that blindly followed a certain German dictator, but....). The reason for this is simply to warn all the larger guilds out there to be careful of what they are doing, and in hopes that no one else gets screwed.

Is there a forum somewhere that we can read or post names of players which do these things, so that we can protect the community of GL and our guild members?
We get apps to our guild all the time, but were going on a whim that the person is mature and decent enough to be a part of our guild.

You could make a post on your public boards...

This guild is just another flavor of the week guild, much like Dope was when he was here the last time, much like the every other day renaming of Ktfo, and like the month long triumph of UOD. You are right to warn anyone who joins this guild as everyone knows what has happened to the members who have joined him in the past. He's a thief plain and simple.

This is your own guilds fault not stratics problem and easily correctable. Its hilarious that first it was someone hacked your guild house now its just he was friended and looted it...

When someone is kicked or leaves BC the rh is cleared depending on how many character they had on our stone its also cleared. Simple things prevent crap like that.

So like itara said post it on your website because its your own fault you left someone friended to the guild house and never cleared it when they left or stopped playing. Hell if you want come friend me to I'll loot it in couple months to.

This post reminds me of the ones people make saying they got hacked after clicking a link or downloading a program. Its stupid and takes simple steps to prevent.

By all means keep playing the sympathy card. Also what happened to banding together and kicking these said hackers off the shard rofl? I heard at there harrower you guys did nothing but fight BC which is fine. Just dont come here begging for sympathy and saying lets make these bad men leave the shard.

If you dont recruit any Tom, ****, and, Sally there will be no problems. Most of these guys have been around for a long time and can pvp with the best of them. This is why people recruit them into thier guilds over and over actually knowing who they are(this was not what happened in XV's case). I hear champs picked one up on chessy knowing who the dude was and he got a suit on the way out.

If you recruit by opening a gate a wbb then chances are they are in your guild already, and you just dont know it. Which is how they got in XV. Xv is more worried about numbers than actual skill. This is always a recruiting flaw and usually does not end well. The problem(so I hear) was thier gm, and counsil were all gone when it erupted. This leads to a empty guild house, and alot of hurt feelings. These guys are bad news, and bad buisness for UO. They have been here forever and will be here long after all of us quit. Thats just how pond scum works.

We tried having our boards public, but the viagra and porn ads got to be more than we could handle. They are now only open to registered members.

*laughs* We have never opened up gates at WBB, or mass recruited like that. We grow strictly off people going to our website and asking to join. We deny as many as we recruit. Anyways, see - this is the reason why people hate posting warnings etc. Instead of taking the thing as a warning to all guilds - you turn it around to bashing anyone and everyone.

Ok genius *laughs* The thing got moved casue of the verbiage I used (etc.. hacking). Thus, why I changed the wording so that it would stay. Maybe it's time to use your fifth grade edumacation, and read things before posting

If you are going to make a statement on how someone did you wrong first you need to see how it was done. How they did it is you all are so big you have no record of People actually in your guild. Name 5 people XV has turned away in month? The answer is 2. Those guys ask for a alliance and didnt really want to join. That is how he got in XV. Your guild boast that its has over 80 actual members. You dont only take pvp players but pvm players as well. You dont segregate or shun someone because they cant or wont pvp. So basically you take any Tom **** and Sally. Hey man it is what it is. Your guild doesnt seem to mind that so really who cares.
The best question is how did someone who would have been a "New" status get friended to your guild house? The answer I give you is no one knows each others mains or secondary charecters.

These people didnt magically fly into your guild house and magically open the friends chest while leaving the coowner alone. Someone friended a charecter that they didnt know thus resulting in this thread.

If it wasnt for people leaving thier footlocker unlocked there would be no problem with thiefs.

XV serves its purpose in fel and I have posted nothing that is not clearly stated on your own web site. My post is not meant to be negative yet informative on how not to recruit.

So, i'm sitting here and re-read what i wrote (I'm at work and multi-tasking). I shouldn't have said you had a fifth grade education *laughs* maybe you have a doctorate, and maybe you failed 2nd grade... That's irrelevant - I shoudn't have said that. It sounded like something YOU would have said lol. I retract that statement - it was pretty crappy of me to say that.

The program he was discovered using before was not approved by Ultima, obviously since the client he is running now is Kingdom Reborn its approved by them. I am however amazed to see anyone actually running Kingdom Reborn. However i would love to see more pvp screenshots with spell graphics and not just the money shot if possible

I chased that newb through Terra last night forever. Boy I wish he would stop to fight me. All he could do is wall of stone himself in a hallway separating us. And instead of running and trying to leave through fire/deceit he actually stood there and covered every tile behind him with a wall of stone on his way out. Too bad dispel field is 5th circle, I couldn't go fast enough to catch him.

To the best of my understanding, the screenshot included in this post does not violate any stratics rules.

This screenshot shows a house that was recently placed near XV's guild castle. It is unedited with the exception of blocking out the name of the logged-in char in the titlebar of the UO client. The owner of the house put information on the sign for everybody to see, so there should be no terms violation in putting a screenshot with that information visible here on the stratics forums.

It is difficult to use it as the lag is out of all proportion with what is happening on the screen however given the circumstances I thought it my only chance at credibility. If I kill someone it is quite a feat and it is all via the approved client. Besides aside from the lag it is a good client. It has much to recomend it. Performance is actually better when not around a lot of action or houses. I like it actually. A couple of days ago I got dismounted in front of destard by switchblade. He and a guild mate chased me while I was on foot all the way to the boats west of the hedge maze and back around the hedge maze to the guard zone by the brit gate. THey were unable to kill me. I in fact guard wacked switchblade. It is not that I was so much faster than them, in fact they kept running past me and trying to stam me, but it seems to respond faster to turns and zig zags also things like macros seem to be more instant.

By the way that is my archer but I will try to get something other than the money shot. In fact if I install Fraps maybe I can capture a movie to post. Then you can see how bad I am lagging when I fight.

If your guild has a solid foundation and is qualified in taking simple steps to prevent such things from happening, you wouldn't have gotten omg "hacked!" every 5 seconds. How many times or people will it take for the same player(s) to run the same script through ICQ to realize not to recieve and open files from any random person? They are the same player(s) traveling shard to shard and back, changing names, guilds, rinse and repeat.

Yes, because those people have no alternative way of accomplishing said goals. Anim - you drive me crazy. lol. You think things are so cut and dry "Well, if your guild did this - ALL PROBLEMS WOULD BE RESOLVED". Also, every five seconds? Until l last week - we have never said a word about crap like this. We just play the game for what it is. Gah, go back to your corner Anim - your opinion is not needed here.

Again, this post wasn't here for you to tell me what my guild is doing wrong - it was to warn people of a certain guild trying to infiltrate the larger guilds on the shard. You think other guilds are inpenitrable? Guess again. Wow, no wonder people don't try and help each other on this shard. No matter what someone says - you guys twist it to something that it's not. I really could give a damn what your opinion is on what we could do, and couldn't do to make our guildhouse more secure. We have already made the changes needed to make that move smoothly. Again, that's why - BEFORE EVEN READING THE INSIDE OF THIS THREAD - it says "no responses needed". It's simply, and purely put here to help the guilds of GL from getting screwed. If you don't want to take the warning for what it is? GREAT! Move on, and go bash each other on a different thread lol.

Not on the stratics tree there is not. There are plenty of forums sponsored by others which will allow this . Of course me stating them here is not allowed;P
