Wow, heck of a weird bug with succubus + my cu sidhe

Fan dancer dojo. My cu sidhe was engaged with a succubus (and a ronin was on it too). I called the dog off and mounted it because I needed to lead the ronin out of the room. Strangely, I noted that I could not lead the ronin. It was standing there looking as though it was in war mode, but it wouldn't engage me when I attacked it.

As a means of trying to get things moving, I got off of my pet, and used the pet to help move the ronin up the hall. The succubus kept coming too, though.

At one point I got on my pet and stood, watching the succubus. It began casting spells.... but not at me. There were spells like fireball, and some other things that I couldn't identify by watching. The fireballs were flying directly west, through a wall and the adjacent room, to a point unknown.

I got off of my pet and saw damage numbers coming off of it. I tried to remount and got the message that my pet was too ill to mount (IE: it was poisoned).

The succubus was casting on my pet and managed to poison it despise my being mounted on it! This must be new, within the past few publishes, I feel like I would have noticed this if it had been happening a few months back.

I did this twice to the same effect, the succubus was able to poison my pet while I was on it as well as cast other nasties in it's direction. It did not seem like the succubus' normal, all-out attack, maybe it was just the spellcasting portion of it.

Weird one huh. I wonder if putting this post here is enough or if I have to go write a bug report.

It happens every once in a blue moon when a monster doesn't correctly retarget and tries to continue attacking a pet which essentially is off limits.

Always write a bug report. Even if it's noticed here by EA, it might not get into the bug database.

Also... this has happened for quite a while now.

This happened to me once as well. Weird indeed!

I invis'ed my hiryu and then myself, and things went back to normal. But I always rather wondered whether anyone else had seen the same thing. Heh.

Aye It happened to me while training my nightmare against my uni, I'd get on the nightmare to stop the fight (since sometimes all stop doesn't work right:p) And my uni was still casting fireballs like it was aiming for something way off screen. Also seen this with mu cu at the Daemons, i get on her to leave and the daemon was shooting flame strikes into the walls, until it targeted me. Has only happened a lot just recently, last 2 weeks maybe?

Mainly happens when you mount a Cu Sidhe while it's fighting. Normally you can't mount a pet that's in a fight if i remember right. However, if you wear Pads of the Cu Sidhe you are able to hop on the Cu Sidhe even while it's fighting. This causes the monster to just stand there, and if it has the capacity to, start spamming spells.

This particular time it was on an elf so no pads needed.

yea that happens sometimes when a pet is fighting and get mounted on, then the monster it was fighting would still spam spells as if it is still fighting the pet. :coco: just invis and hide and the monster will be normal again.

I can't help but think this is one of those rare bugs that should just be left alone. I can see it now, they "fix" it and end up creating a pet flag that prevents you from mounting your pet.

It happened again, this time with my Hiryu at Yamotsu Mines, and I got it to happen over and over again.

And then, the oddest thing went on....

I had mounted my hiryu and invissed myself when, all of a sudden, a mirror image of my Hiryu appeared right where the monsters were standing. And the things stood around like that.

When I dismounted my Hiryu, it's mirror image disappeared.

Check out the scene, I caught the screenshot:

I stopped submitting bug reports because I think that system is bugged, but you should definitely keep submitting them daily. A similar problem happens( happened?) in KR. It is pretty cool. When fighting a magic creature if you jumped on a rideable, it would launch a pre casted spell into outer space. It was kind of cool. I figured it was because it couldn't find the original target. It hasn't happened to me in a while now (6 months?) and I feel like they fixed it.

Nothing to the point of mirror images and/or damage though, so uninstall and reinstall UO and that will fix your problem.

ALso, monster in general don't like when a PC recalls out and returns. They run up superfast from out of nowhere and stand there and then aggro. I feel this is related in some way.

Nah I don't believe that the mirror image of my bird was a client problem. It just popped there while I was standing invis doing nothing, just appeared out of nowhere among the monsters. I think it was a symptom of what was going on server-side, and the client showed what the server was telling it to at the time.

In retrospect, too bad I didn't get a chance to try turning or moving while the mirror image was there. The first thing I happened to try was dismounting while I was still invis to see if it would stay, and it didn't.

This deal with monsters continuing to attack my hiryu for a while after I've mounted it is consistant and duplicable. Just let a succubus start attacking the hiryu, then pull the hiryu a few steps away and get on it. To see spells like ebolt and fireball fly, just walk up close to the succubus.

While I'm mounted, my pet isn't taking damage from the spells until I get off of it, like, when the monster poisons my pet it doesn't seem to take poison damage tics until I dismount. But, I do have to cure it before re-mounting.
