Hi
Wouldn't it be really nice if the interior decorators tool had a left and right option to go with its up, down and turn?

Come on Devs, Wakey wakey. Lets get on this one eh?

It would be very nice, but I think because this is a tile-based game, it wouldn't be possible :(

I'm sure it could be done, but it might be tough to code. I'm not sure how the game recognizes movement between tiles and whether the coding to shift a locked-down item between tiles would be possible. *shrugs* It'd be convenient for those times when you realize your awesome deco'd vase needs to sit one square to the left on your table.

It *can* be done, but it'd be a huge pain. I'm pretty sure they would have to create an entirely new item for each separate place that the item could be located.

That would probably involve shaving off some of the invisible background (or adding to it. If they were to start from scratch they would create every item so it would be left sitting (IE have no spare invisible background) and then just use a formula to move it to the right.

Just from messing with insideUO recently for the bank contest I realized that there is no artwork for stacks of items, there is just some kind of formula that tells an item to duplicate it's graphic but for both images to sit a little differently, nearly on top of each other. So it's at least possible to "move" an item that way.

I wish you could place the front steps of your house on different sides of the building!

I'm sure it could be done without too much difficulty and without new art. A tile shift, NESW, maybe. Maybe the sprites would need to be cropped a bit removing some of the purple neutral background, if its purple in UO. Crates and chests kind of have this already along with some tables and deeded items. It'd just be nice to be able to put an ale bottle and 2 mugs on a table without them looking like a drunk teenager put them there.

Had a similar thought the other day. The steps wouldn't need to be like an extra tile as the front steps are just a 2 or 3 squares worth of steps in the foundation on the east side. Sure it wouldn't have much effect on other things as it'd be inside your foundation. Be great to have a back gate.
