Would you attend a UO conference / convention / party?

Similar to the 15th Anniversary shindig, would you travel to attend a real life event?

I was on a break and missed the 15th Anniversary party. I would love to hang out with the voices from Atlantic, Siege, and Legends I've met online over the years. And the 15th Anniversary Commemorative Robe is one of my most sought after items, so if something like that were part of it it would be a lock. Plus, I think that putting devs, ems, and players face to face would be more conducive to polite conversation.

If one of these were to ever happen again, would any of you attend?

If it were to happen during winter (June to September) and close to date to other conventions (FanExpo, DragonCon, etc) I intend to partake when I finally get to take some vacations, yes, I would.

Back when they did the town hall meetings I attended the one here in Chicago. I got to meet not only some of the UO team but I had the pleasure of sitting with Lady Rachel during the event. This was back when Patrick's (Leurocian) daughter was still in a stroller....got to meet him and his wife.

I know Queen Mum was there as Jeremy was raving about the cookies she brought but I never met her, I arrived a tad bit late so wasn't able to mingle before hand unfortunately.

If they ever did a meet up like that...it would have to be in the Chicago/Milwaukee area but I would be there in a heartbeat

Nice responses I would probably travel ANYWHERE between the east coast and the great plains to attend, and would strongly consider flying to west coast (though my chances would be lower, still, I'd try).

I went to a "Meet and Greet" in DesMoines several years back put on by a bunch of players... The DEV's had been doing them around the country but didn't choose to come to this one... instead they sent some spiffy things and an apology for not coming. I ended up with a couple of signed posters from AoS ... one signed by the artist the other signed by a bunch of the DEV's at the time.... and a T-Shirt. Love the items I got would have really liked to meet the DEV's .... but wasn't happening.

As for me going out east to meet them NOT likely to happen since well... I don't have a Sugar Daddy and I sure ain't driving all the way out there. I honestly don't think the ole Jeep would make it that far... Still waiting to win the lotto or PCH but since we all know that's about as likely as there being a Hurricane here in Iowa... I don't think so. However if someone up north or out west were going to drive there I'd hitch a ride.

When I went to GenCon 2008, the flight was so long, but so long that when I took off it was winter and when the plane landed it was summer.

I don't think I'd drive out to a different state to do anything like this unless food was involved like local diner, with a good rep, burgers tasty root beer floats type situation. Meeting soley for UO seems to board room, boring for me. And we can always karaoke night it with UO references like cool people do when they doing champ spawns, with the music to Africa by Toto.

If I did come, it's a strong possibility I would not tell people my characters name, I would just be a random person there that nobody can figure out who they are

Seeing people in real life kills some of the "UO magic" for me anyway, once you see a person in real life you can never think of them as their character ever again. You'll always remember who they are in real life, instead of who they are in UO, even if they turn out to be awesome in real life it just would never be the same talking to them in UO.

I attended a TownHall Gathering in Atlanta back in 2006. It was pretty fun. Held at Dave and Busters. Sadly at that point in time, I was only sixteen. So I wasn't able to enjoy the festivities as much as some of the other attendees.

One of my fondest memories was when the Skulls (S) guild all met up in Atlanta.
The dumpster diving for the missing liquor the staff of the motel threw out still makes me LMAO.
With better functioning laptops today and all the conversation over the greatest game ever made, how could you miss that?

If that was Chicago, 2008, it was Queen Mum's cookies that were there. I attend that with some other people and Queen Mum mailed the cookies to someone and we delivered them.

Depending on where it was and when, I would attend if possible.

I was at the D.C. meet and met a lot of really cool folk. I was there for Drunk Guy. I also went to a meet in Austin and got to meet a lot of that team. I still owe Draconi some beers... Oh met Mr Garriot in Austin as well. lots of cool players too.

I was at that one too. Still have 2 of the CDs Binky made of the AoS client patched up to the most recent publish, one autographed. I was at that Gen Con that I set the wheels in motion for the destruction of Haven, when I asked if I could do my BOD runs at the booth, and showed a couple of the devs just how bad LA's Haven was freezing and rubber-banding.

I went to the Bethesda, MD town hall with my now-wife and fellow UO player back in 2007. We drove about six hours in the rain each way.

I'd consider it again. Didn't know there had been meets in DC since or I might have made it to one
