Would it very difficult to fix the broken attack animation?

Why do we punch when mounted instead of using our weapon?

I recently talked my brother into playing uo. He keeps bringing to my attention all the small rediculous things that are wrong with the game. This is one of the them that I just don't understand how it has been left as is for so long. If your on a mount when using any of these weapons, and I'm sure many others, you punch the enemy instead of using the weapon. It's little things like this that I just cannot spin as a positive, and it's getting hard to keep convincing him to continue giving uo a chance.

Would it really be that time consuming to fix the animation?

Small list of weapons I tested that have this glitch:
Double Axe
Halberd
Bardiche
Executioner's Axe
Spear
Axe
Battle Axe
Bladed Staff

LOL how about your books, shields and weapons changing hands each time your turn? Anyway, this whole topic would fall under the -I do not play UO for the graphics- category.

Hah it probably would be harder than one would think. It must just be because the art doesn't exist. If thats the case, it will never be fixed. Unless they rehire the original artist.

I'm partial to the way a staff bends when you sit while it's equipped.
I hope they never fix it.

Bah. The changing hands thing is just fine. What is it, 4 frames per full attack animation? Every weapon that has this bug is held in the shield hand, whereas the two handed weps that work just fine are held in the weapon hand. Just change the art to have it in the other hand, and recreate the couple of frames per weapon. Right?

I don't play UO for the graphics either, but this little thing is obscene. I really do think it's little things like that that cause stop new players from giving it much of a chance. A player has to be a bit dedicated before he can get hooked on the immense depth of the game.

I suspect it's less an art problem and more of a bug. I mean they HAVE to have created swing animations for these weapons, and it can't be coincidence that only weapons the game believes are carried in the shield hand are affected.

Ding Ding, Weapons Carried in the Shield Hand, my guess is, Even though they are weapons, when the game references the Characters Main hand, it is considered empty, and thus a Punch animation is played.

Could be totally wrong though. :thumbup1:

I don't know most the time I can't tell if I'm carrying my bow or not because it's rarely ever on the sprite...

Fully agree.. I get tired of punching things while my staff or what have you sits in my other hand.. Surely it can't be that hard to fix, right?
