Would anyone be interested in a DiscordApp Server?

Discord is a web/client based server that allows for both text and audio based chat. It has a number of features including

• Free, with browser, mobile or windows app (this allows an ingame overlay).
• Message history and direct messaging
• Audio and text chat

I have taken the liberty of creating a server, you can access it here.

Basically, I don't see any competing general service right now in the UO community especially since IRC usage has died down, and this has been fairly popular with other gaming communities. I like the ingame chat, and I like forums - but I wouldn't mind a more persistent and stable way to keep in contact and chat with people in UO. I do realize that a lot of people still use ICQ, but that doesn't allow for much general conversation.

Personally I've already been using it with the UDIC, SotA and other gaming communities I am involved with and it has been working quite well!

Thank you! I was hesitant to start this thread on Uhall. One never knows what is UO related these days.

I created sub channels for each server, I don't know what else would be useful - but I thought that at least would be nice. I could also make voice channels for servers as well.

In now. Going to download the desktop App since i run a Mac and like to keep my browser windows closed unless I am looking something up, since I run UO in Parallels and it takes a lot of resources for such an old game

Are the servers that you make private so that only my group has access?

As of right now, membership and all channels are open to anyone and everyone. I can make private rooms I believe, but that would require me to give every person within it a special tag. I can do this if you want though, since the more people we have in general, I think the better it'll be.

It depends on how you set it up. Your server is completely separate from mine. DiscordApp is the service, and everyone can make their own servers. I don't have any control over it. However now you have to invite your own members to it so that they can access it.
