IIRC, EA was supposed to give us an answer sometime before the end of the year. That is the last thing I have heard, wondering if there is anything new.

Without causing any kind of stir - What is the latest info on a Classic shard?

Nope, no word, as no one has gotten one of the "bean counters" at EA to give a 'yea" or a "nay" yet.
Since EA is a business, and the and the reason for big Corporate businesses to exist is to make a profit. What we are waiting for the decision from the number cruncher (who does not even know what UO is), to find out if a Classic UO would really draw more players and thus more proffits.
I will state here and now, that I believe the decision will come down, NOT to do a classic shard. Although, I do not think you/We will ever be told the real reason. I think the decision will be No, because it will be felt that UO would just be leeching it's existing player base to play a "classic shard" and that not enough paying customers would be "lured" back from the free shards to justify the expense of creating one. It will not come to pass.

EA may be on the fence on this subject. Keep in mind DAoC has done this. EA is probable looking at this business module to determine their next course of action on the subject. This is my opion on the subject:

However, they do have to make a long term comment that they have to find a way to break in the future. At best Seige will be converted into a classic shard. While that may provide a short term boost in population it will alienate the Seige player base. Best course of action is to blow smoke up the tail pipe of the player base. In hope that you don`t loose players, & may cause some old player to sign up again.

I thought one of the Dev's 'insinuated' that the participation level in SOTD would help determine a classic shard? Officially, it lasted a few days, then most players abandoned it?
That's your answer, not enough players want it, so the idea is simply dropped, Otherwise, wouldn't you think in anticipation of a New Shard coming there would be a lot of fanfare?
Not gonna happen, and waiting for them to respond is second to waiting on a GM help call, hope you brought your lunch.

Well it is christmas soon and sometimes wonders happen ....

The reason it didn't last long was because of the misnomer posted here on stratics that was created to observe interest in a classic shard, but when people logged into it expecting classic and realized instantly that it was not a classic shard they stopped playing. If the devs want to calculate interest in a classic shard they should create a real classic test shard for us to play on and I'm sure the results will be much better.
That would take too much intelligence...i'm ready for the next shipment of Devs honestly...
Too much hatin... the devs are highly limited by the EA factor... with the EA factor, intelligence can turn into a gasp for fresh air.
For only 12.99... the EA factor can change your life ! Either if you get paid or pay the amount, it dosen't matter !

We still have 33 days to go and quite honestly being the hollidays.... The thing is I wouldnt be holding my breath if I was you.
IT's not because its redundant or anything of that matter. It's just the time to develope that shard would pull from their mini pac's like High Seas. They really want to develope these smaller publishes. You got to admit they got alot of people working doing maps and fishing.
This is gunna sound silly but we have been picking up more people some new and some returning players.... I have seen shards in the last few weeks have more activity. Its good to see. Cross your fingers and hope mroe return and come in. (we need the fresh blood).

IF this were to happen, they need to get a hold of a LBR disk available alot of places, load up a old server with the disk no updates and let it roll unsupported, and if it stays afloat solo then consider support and let it take care of itself. AGAIN i would let it stay unsupported until it shows that it is not just a flash in the pan shard that it would be a viable shard.

The screen is normally used to display a gigantic virtual aquarium and video feeds from live events.

And what could possibly drive someone to drop that kind of coin on one night of gaming on a screen bigger than a football field? Word on the street is that the man in question is a guild leader in China and was feeling a little envy after the head of a competing guild played the game in an IMAX theater.
