Withholding Toon Up?

More and more lately, I've been with groups of randoms who decide to chastise another toon by withholding toon ups. This is making me uncomfortable because I hate to see another toon go sad. I can understand it if the toon is being a complete jerk and causing the group harm by stupid gag choices, but if say, you're in the mint and need more cogbucks and the toon engages the final group of cogs -- is that a reason to not toon him up? As it happens, there was actually an invasion on and we could've finished with full bucks.

My question is: Would you withhold tu to the point of letting a toon actually go sad? Or do you just let them get sad enough that you think they may learn a lesson?

Twice now, I've gone ahead and tooned up the offending toon when they were under half laff. Would this make anyone mad if I was in their group?

I will be honnest here,
Let's say in a building with a toon working sound on big cogs with baby toons, I will try to teach them a lesson by letting them go very low then Tooning them up, telling them to stop sounding, if they learn, i will ToonUp, if they keep screwing up and puting the team in danger, i will not hesitate to send them back to the playground looking at their feet.
This is one of the reasons why I think speedchat+ will be helpful.

I have only let a toon die twice so far. Both times after having tooned them up, they would then do the same thing and even say either "I Don't Care" or Laugh. I ask a number of times for them to "go after the same cog", "let's work together", "don't use sound on lured cogs", and so on. I have let a toon down to less then half or more and then toon them up. If they still keep playing with no regard to the others on the team I have no problem letting them die.

Sometimes I can tell from the choices that they are a young kid and are trying to help. They say "sorry" or "oops", but they for the most part are trying to do right but make more mistakes then most. I never let these ones die if I can help it.

Because of this I have many on my friends list like this. They ask for my help all the time, so I believe others won't help them. I try to help them as much as possible. At the end others will say "You Stink" and such to them, but I know they are really just kids. 5 of them have gotten much better and will say "which way" or ask "let's use sound" or such and listen when told no or yes. They always thank me for my help via a whisper. Which I feel a whispered thank you is really meant.

I have had my nephew ask why I keep some of them on my list and remind him that he played that way too when he started.

One toon I helped get from 15 laff to 90 laff in the last 2 months, whispered to me "Thank You", "You Rock", "You are awesome", "Bye" to me before they removed me from their list. I take this to mean, you helped me and now I am going to help others, here is room back on your list to help others too.

I don't do the random scene anymore. Well, except for CGCs and since I've needed the mid six every promo now, I haven't run across many randoms who cause enough trouble for this to be an issue.

I'm not a "do gooder" by any means, but it always seemed cruel to me with others thought they could decide who lives or dies. My closest friends have done it, in my presence, and I've given them crap about it.

Now I HAVE withheld toonup in an atempt to teach a lesson, but I just can't purposely kill a toon, nor can I stand and watch someone else do it.

Completely and totally random, depending on my mood and the situation. I have not tooned up toons who just plain got on my nerves for whatever reason, like suggesting which gag to use on every play or glitching all over the place. My group even jokes about it and says "Rabbit must die." And, depending on everyone's mood, he is in mortal danger at that point. I don't feel like I owe anyone a toon up, and I would think this plays into how I feel about toons who have no TU at all to give to anyone ever. Totally depends on how I feel at the moment.

I will never withhold TU if it means the toon will definitely die. I know what cogs do what attack for what damage; if the offending toon has enough laff to survive the current round FOR SURE, I will sometimes withhold TU to make the toon sweat a little. Sometimes.
But if there is any chance of sadness, I will use toonup. Regardless of how annoying someone is acting, I do not let toons go sad on purpose.

Eh, I've done it. Did it last night actually. It was a group decision. LOL! We had a group of 5 that wanted to vp for fun so we went to river. I guess it was around 11pm est and there were toons ready to go too. I don't look at gags or laff in the vp as it doesn't matter as far as my survival. We get in there and we get a 38 laffer with only 19 laff left. We proceed to throw gags and he does nothing but whine for a toon up. Meanwhile the other side gets done and I ask a friend behind me if the cat has any gags. Well he has no gags at all. He thought he was in there for a free ride. Shame he chose the wrong group to do that too. We did not toon him at all. We let the cogs hit him and he went sad. It didn't bother me a bit. I don't care if it was a kid. My now 9 y/o pulled that stunt in a vp a long time ago and got mad when no one tooned her. I considered it a good lesson to learn. Yea, I'm mean. :D

You can bet she went with gags from then on. I asked why she would go with out gags and she said she didn't want to spend her beans. LOL! Well too bad! Got to pay to play. She got over it. I am happy to report that being made to go sad had no long term psychological effects. :D

Call me mean...because I will let a toon go sad in a heartbeat. If they're EXTREMELY annoying, or pulling gags on purpose to get everyone killed, if they come to a boss battle without gags or laff, I will withhold toon up without a doubt.

A toon glitching in a vp and changing sides always makes me think of that nickle i dropped in the playground.

I figure if they go back to the pg looking at their feet, they may find that nickle for me.

;-)~

I don't mind letting one go sad if they are grieving on purpose, you know, laughing and saying "Ha Ha!" and "I don't care"...if they feel that way then they must not care to look at their feet and walk slooooowly for a while in the PG.

However, a long while back, I went into a Bullion mint with my "mom" toon and three randoms (this was pre-stratics for me)...well needless to say, two of the randoms were friends (made obvious by their constant sf chat) and the other guy was little (in his 70's) and probably on one of his first bullion runs. The two friends decided to kill off the little one on purpose with no provocation. He didn't make bad gag choices and wasn't rude at all. They were whispering to me trying to get me to go along with their rudeness. Needless to say the little one went sad even with me tooning him. So the two buddies went to engage the next set of cogs laughing the whole way and I bailed on them. That's one of the only times when I was very happy to bail on someone. You know, I have my days when I'm grouchy and all, but I don't think I would ever purposely let someone die for absolutely no reason. It was just plain mean.

I have let toons go sad a couple of times -- all with similar circumstances.

One that stands out was in the factory. i had the highest laff (60's), my friend and random third toon had the lowest laffs. The random 4th toon insisted on using sound. We'd lure, he'd sound. Obviously we'd get hit. We'd lure and tu while telling him not to use sound on lured cogs. He'd give us the I don't care and bring out sound again. My friend and I tried the scare tactic of not tooning him up. He said sorry and shifted to throw so we tu'd him. Then as soon as he was full laff, he went back to sounding saying "HaHa".

At the center silo. The other toon (random) said it needed more merits. We said we did to and to catch the next one. Sounding toon says I don't care. Haha and rushes in to fight the foreman. My friend and I held back as did the other toon. An invasion came on and we ran in just in time to see him go sad.

I don't like seeing toons go sad and but sometimes it is obvious that they are doing things on purpose without care what happens to their companions. In those cases, why should I care what happens to them?

I let a toon go sad once in the DA. I was with randoms and after what seemed to be three blatent holocog triggers I said "This isn't what' I'm looking for" and didn't join the fourth holocog battle. Only one random had joined so far. I had intended it as a scare tactic, because they were all so low I thought maybe they really didn't know what they were doing. I just wanted them to wait instead of wasting all our gags. I counted out ten seconds, but as I joined, the one engaged toon apparently had decided we weren't going to join at all and used a sound gag. She went sad on the counterattack. One of the remaining toons joined me and the other jumped out. The two of us left finished the holocogs and I jumped back to the PG. It was my first DA with anyone else. Previously I had only gone in with one of my low toons to practice the puzzles. Not a good start to the DA's...

I will hardly ever withhold tu, unless a small toon is being really obnoxious and thinks they can beat everything themself. Then i will withhold tu because it is really irritating

When friends feel the need to teach a lesson (and I usually agree with them), I will let one go sad. I have to do it passively though. I 'forget' I have tu and will not even toonup said friends. I've only done it a couple of times - usually I will tu after an appropriate amount of time and close calls, when I feel a lesson has been learned.

Someone glitches in the vp, I will NOT use tu. Anyone glitches one of my mine-sweeper puzzles in the da (unless I ask them to because I'm stuck), I may forget to use tu. Oh, and if you run ahead repeatedly just about anywhere, I may laugh hysterically as you take four hits!
