With 120 being the new cap for Fishing, what use is GM?

Shade -These are the things that will be released with the High Seas booster.

Higher levels of fishing will now increase your chances of getting uncommon and Enchanted fish. These bonuses occur at 60, 90, and 120. Legendary fish cannot be caught unless you are a Legendary Grand Master fisher.

Certain orders in the fishing quest are not available until your skill is above 100 fishing. This also means that certain rewards are not available from the quest unless your skill is above 100.
So you get a bonus at 60, 90 and 120. You also have to have above 100 for certain quests. So, what is the point of having 100? You may as well drop down to 90, or go to 100.1. Having 100.1 is messy, though, so you'd probably go for 120 since that is when your next "bonus" is.

Is this an oversight or just something that hasnt been expanded on?

Not sure what your question is. The new content has no bonuses for GM, but the old ones will still be there. You'll still need to be GM to fish up MiBs. You just won't get an extra bonus for 100 when it comes to the new fish.

It'll have all the potency of GM swords post-pub 16.

I don't think that's a surprise to anyone.

Exactly my thoughts. Depending how easy the 120 scrolls are to get it would seem likely people would go all the way to 120. But being GM still provides all the old bonuses as well as the 90 bonus for the new stuff.

I dont understand question either?

all they did was add content that requires more different level to be able to aquire them. There are no changes to the 100 requirements already in play?

Unless these new legendary fish are something I can't live without, I doubt I'll bother with a scroll at all. Getting to GM was boring enough, I'm surprised I didn't get a concussion from when I'd pass out from boredom and smash my head into the desk.

And now having to raise fishing to 120, mean to re-adjust the template of our fisher. Soon it will because harder to have all those skill. Runnin gout of room even with 7 Characters slot. We going to need 8 or 9 Slot soon to hold all those skill and maybe been able to have more then 720 skill point, 740 or 760 perhaps.

Er... Wait... An increased chance to fishing up something deemed completely useless by every fisherperson? Why?

I'm hoping Shade just didn't know what the frak he was talking about and mixed up the terms... "uncommon and Enchanted fish" mean the small fish we get and immediatly dump out of our packs due to their not being worth existing. The 2.5 second "bonuses" they provide are beyond worthless.

If he doesn't mean something new, instead of the worthless fish, then...well...that doesn't bode well.

Seems like there will be plenty to complain about once the new content hits. No reason to complain in advance of seeing it.

You missed the...boat.. teehee...

We already have these fish and they are worthless, why would we want a greater chance of getting something useless?

Now is the time to nip bizzare and unnecessary changes in the bud, or to at least expect the Devs to give us relatively accurate information.

Having actually BEEN at the Town Hall....

1. There's gonna be new kinds of enchanted fish, not just the crappy ones (and we tried our best to convince them to improve the crappy ones while they were at it).

2. Apparently you all missed the part of that Dev's reply (the last lines in the quote) that the BOD-like system for catching certain types of fish, expands at GM, as many types require GM skill to even be offered.
(in much the same way that BODs go from normal, small, base-material only to all possible combinations at 70 skill for tailors & smiths).

Y'all might ought not keep staring at that pebble with yer spyglass, mates - it sounds like you're describing the great barrier reef....

Huch fishing bods?
hmm, is a way to hand out items, though .... bods ?
Would then rather see systems like in WOW.
Gold for the largest fish caught this week or a special Trophy

To get the most outta the toon without having to stone off skills to make him versatile, the suit and skill build is critical.

And you wonder why I am always against a massive search system.

When this news came out all the fishing scrolls pink went away.

Cant recall if there are blue but if so, gone. The pink have returned at 100 to 150k per .1. Thats about 1 - 1.5 million a point.

GM=Generally Meaningless, or worthless. I was just discussing this the other day w/ some pre tram friends who were thinking of coming back, they were pretty excited until '120' skills came up. 100-120 should = Bonus - which means all those skills got nerfed by 20 %.

If the total points available was increased, maybe 20%, it might be doable, since usully it takes multiple skills to do one - weapon,tactics,anat=60 extra pts to do the same as before the nurf . What was it they give us awhile back, 25 pts? That barely covers One. We were all happy to get it, but it was just a bone. Needless to say, they won't be returning

I enjoy fishing, but training to finally get to GM was painful. After having a half finished fisherman for years I decided to push and GM him. Not a grind I am looking forward to again.

PSST you can fish up mibs at 65 ..... hehe
Well 120 fishing is ok i cn aford a few more points on most of my fishers plus this gives them room to add more later... think about it they can add content to the skill lvling right now they got hands full, give the guys a break. working out hte kinks takes time, its not simple code to deal with. If they need ideas they can give me a call... I got alot of ideas hehe (sharks......whales........)

Also, gm will still get you white pearls. All existing fishing loot is still available. I do dread training to 120 though.

That being said, when powerscolls were introduced, the rule was always that you do not need them to access any aspect of the game.

Yes, they gave you bonus, but at GM you can still steal anything albeit at a lower success rate, still cast lvl 8 spells, but fizzle more, still have a chance to make exceptional platemail chests, still activate weapon specials etc etc.

But some skills have since broken away from this model, like animal taming, that requires a certain level to tame certain of the new highend mobs.

Regarding the part about certain orders being available to only gm+ fishing chars, I just want to raise my opinion that no game content should be withheld from players not able to get access to a ps. They should have a lower success rate, but should still have a chance at it no matter how slim.

Just my 2 cents.
