Will sampire builds work for High Seas PVM?

I'm newly returning to the game, and I'm working on a run-of-the-mill sampire build, but I'm curious if I could swap out archery for swordsmanship (maybe on a stone) in order to be more effective at High Seas content. Would I still need parry? Am I going about this all wrong? Is there a better build for completing the High Seas content?

Pirating trades ships and running bounty missions. I don't really plan on fishing, and if I do, I'll probably make an alt.
