suggestion for bard players:
Most bards are hybrids of other templates, typically having a casting skill (Magery, Spellweaving or Mysticism) or a pet.
Damaging spells at range or mage weapon bows are good options for personal damage (enough to get rights), but your strength will be IN A PARTY. Take the Provocation Mastery, and use the Inspire (boost party members & pet/summons combat bonuses) and/or Invigorate (stat boosts & regenerate 10+ HP every 4 seconds for party & pets/summons) abilities.
Even unpartied, in last night's event on Lake Austin, my relatively crappy GD outlasted most the 4-star GDs in the melee, because I stayed on the edge, and used invigorate. He still ended up dying a few times(mainly from getting stuck at the end, and my being unable to get him to move from the stuck position - and he'd die almost instantly if I rezed him while stuck), but lasted longer between deaths because of the regeneration. Had I been partied with a couple other tamers, each invigorate would have been shorter, but the net amount of HP regenerated would have been twice as much, split over the 3 dragons (which would have kept their dragon in the fight longer, for more DPS.
