Yeah I just logged on Europa, and saw the golems in Haven. At the gate from new haven heading to where the zombies spawn,I saw three tamers with their greater dragons fighting one golem. With the type of damage the golem was putting on the dragons,it would be unwise to try to fight them with any other template. Thats too bad.

Dunno what kind of bard you have but peace and disco works great on the guards. Golems have always been unbardable something about them being machines.

When the blackrock elementals were invading ishenar a few moons ago, my provo bard was one of the only effective templates. Guess they decided to punish the bard when they made the blackrock golems a little easier to kill than the elementals for more players. It's a shame that each new scenario seems weighted in preference for just one or two templates, leaving the rest of us in the cold. This scenario is definitely unfriendly to the mage, mystic and bard.

suggestion for bard players:

Most bards are hybrids of other templates, typically having a casting skill (Magery, Spellweaving or Mysticism) or a pet.

Damaging spells at range or mage weapon bows are good options for personal damage (enough to get rights), but your strength will be IN A PARTY. Take the Provocation Mastery, and use the Inspire (boost party members & pet/summons combat bonuses) and/or Invigorate (stat boosts & regenerate 10+ HP every 4 seconds for party & pets/summons) abilities.

Even unpartied, in last night's event on Lake Austin, my relatively crappy GD outlasted most the 4-star GDs in the melee, because I stayed on the edge, and used invigorate. He still ended up dying a few times(mainly from getting stuck at the end, and my being unable to get him to move from the stuck position - and he'd die almost instantly if I rezed him while stuck), but lasted longer between deaths because of the regeneration. Had I been partied with a couple other tamers, each invigorate would have been shorter, but the net amount of HP regenerated would have been twice as much, split over the 3 dragons (which would have kept their dragon in the fight longer, for more DPS.

I did find a use for my bard tho, but not the way I wanted. But I had to use 2 clients, and have my bard use provo masteries on my partied bladeweaver. Standing on a boat, works very well. Doing 200ish dmg per hit with my BattleFocus soul glaive. Feels worth it to have 2 active accounts all of a sudden:)

Anti-bard? try playing as a summoner/necro-mage.

*you cannot cast this in town* *you cannot cast this in town* *you cannot cast this in town*

I just figured the brit army didn't like mages or necros.....so I defected to the bane. Unfortunately it seems any town we capture the brit army has endless chances to re-take...and we never get a second shot at uncaptured cities :(....we still hold minoc, cove, and moonglow though!

Yes, this is stupid. This was brought up as a problem way back in the Britain Invasion, and as a result, they fixed it for the Ophidian Invasion. Unfortunately, it seems that there is not a single human being left at EA that knows how the code that allows for summoning in town works, or even that it exists.

The Blackrock Golems are not in town.

Even if they were Necro/Mages can still deal damage.

Try playing a bard.
240 points to Provoke, you can't Provoke that, in town or not.
240 points to Discord, a song of Discordance would have no effect on that, in town or not.

The default template for newly added monsters prevents bard abilities. They are the only class in the game that has this.
