Why is my wife killing this golem?

Hi guys:

My wife made a mace samurai. We decided to do the golem thing.

She's got 106.4 mace we had lying around & 25 tacts. Its pretty funny.

We guild her, all guard with the golem. Tell it to stop and she starts to gain, but the golem is almost dead with the second hit. She's using 100% poison weapon, no reflect or anything like that on any of her armor or jewels.

Does anyone have any idea why she almost killed the golem?

Make sure theres no hit spell on the weapon. Also get a tamer to lore your golem and make sure its poisin resist is very high. The golem trick works best with a "prepatch" 100% poisin resist golem. hard to get. but it being one hit Id say there was hit spell on the weapon. If not then you might be using a very fast weapon with a high dex char and the golem isnt regening enough in time so, either get a slower weapon or drop some dex for the time being.

The golem thing is just so wrong. Personally, I think it should be eliminated from the game.

Do yourself and your wife a favor and stop beating the golem, go out and beat on minotaurs in the Labrynth. Skill gain should be just as fast as with a golem. And who knows, she might even have fun!

golems were changed sometime back, they no longer have 100% poison resist.

so you are going to do damage.

just go to shame level one and kill everything there (earth elementals/scorpions) her tactics will go up.

or go to despise and go downstairs and fight ettins.

If she is using lightning strike that will kill it fast. LS does direct damage, not base damage. So training bushido is a no no when training a weapon skill on a golum

Things to check:
Not wearing a Quiver (changes elemental damage, though i'm not really sure if this effects melee weapons or not)
Lightning Strike (Criticals do direct damage)
No Hit Spells on weapon
Obviously a spell like Immolating Weapon is not desireable, nor is Concecrate.
Not having a prepatch golem isn't a big deal, unless you're training with something uber fast. Occasionally stopping to cast Gift of Renewal should be all you need for golem training.

i agree with Cygans that golem beating should be removed, what's the point of playing if you don't work to the goal of gaining skill and game experience.

Warsong of LS has it right, go and bash monsters, gather gold and loot.

Dispise is my choice, from lizard men to ogre lords, i gained all my fighters up to 120 skills and glorious lords there. take your time, explore, talk to other players, slow down and enjoy the game.....otherwise people may think you have A.D.D. or something.

Hey I had an evil thought. I wonder if casting invisibility on the golem of an unattended macroer still causes it to hit and injure the scumbag macroer. And is doing that repeatedly, until they die and the golem wanders off, (still?) an exploit?

I hate cry babies! If that woman wants to hit a golem until she is blue in the face, let her. It's none of my business what she is doing or how she trains her toon as long as it is legal and not interfering with the game play. That's how things get screwed up in the first place. A very few complain about something and they remove it, then they complain about something else. And as soon as they change something they like, they want to scream its not fair.
Its a game and not everyone has 8 hours a day to train a toon so we can go out and do fun things besides hit an elemental.

Amen. I get sick of that crap too....waaaaaah, I don't like that, they should remove it from the game. Let people train how they want. You want to go kill stuff have at it. Someone wants to beat on a golem all day, let them have at it. To each his own.
